I'm not sure if it's delayed nesting or delayed spring cleaning (or both), but I've spent the majority of the day cleaning. Mind you, we're both a little anal about the state of our place at any given time, so the place is never really "dirty". Sure, there are things that need be put away/dusted/cleaned, etc, but it's never really out of control like you see on TV or anything.
That said... today, I cleaned the office. Went through papers, put some stuff away, threw away a bunch of stuff, dusted the shelves and wiped down the desk. I didn't sweep or swiffer the floor, but that's because I did it last week. Yesterday, I swept and swiffered the bedroom, so I just needed to make the bed and fold the spare blanket. I swept the bathroom floor, wiped down the bathroom mirror and cleaned the sink. Put away razors/shaving cream and generally made it look decent.
I went through the toiletry shelf in the closet, too. Our closet has 4 shelves, plus a big space on the floor underneath the bottom shelf. On that floor space goes a spare pillow (nowhwere else to put it, really), extra TP and paper towels and a few random odds and end toiletry sets that I got as holiday gifts and am not sure what to do with. Then it sheets/blankets, and above that is towels. The top shelf is for my dress shoes and the box for my camera, etc. Mostly random things that need to be put away AND out of the way because they don't get used/accessed that often. That leaves the toiletry shelf. There's a shoebox full of nailpolish and a tupperware container of makeup. The rest of it was a disaster area: spare toothpastes (for both of us), contact solution, air freshener, hair dye, shampoo/conditioner, soap, hair stuff. UGH. I went through everything and found a bunch of stuff that I want to get rid of because I don't use it and/or shouldn't have moved it with me last year in the first place. The only problem is that most of it is full or partially used, so I'm not really sure HOW to dispose of it properly. Can I just recycle it? Throw it in the regular trash? Empty the contents and then recycle? I think I'm going to call my mom in a little bit and ask her.
I just finished cleaning the living room, too, which involved everything except vacuuming because I hate ours. Pledged all the wooden surfaces, threw away some old and destroyed cat toys. Dusted our broken lamp/awesome bobblehead display.
Did some dishes, too. Not that there was a lot - a few forks and spoons, a knife, a regular cup, a coffee cup, a tupperware + lid, and a bowl from my cereal this morning.
Also went to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner: milk, potatoes and bacon. Just gotta wait for Joe to get home from work and then I can make us a lovely dinner of strawberry pancakes with homefries and bacon. mmmm, bacon.
