Good news -- the next 6 months are locked in. I have a contract with the Texas Employee Retirement Systems to do InfoSec policy and guideline development work. Still prefer to be doing project management, but a job is a job is a job! Starting Monday. Jen just let me know that she was at a birth yesterday, which gives her enough births to attend that she can sit for her qualifier exam in October. Which we really want to do, as going to a 6 hour exam is a lot easier without a nearly newborn (next exam is in late Jan), even if she will be 6 mos. pregnant ( Read more... )

I'm going to get a grandchild for a birthday present this year! And I'm invited to be at the birth. All of which makes me very excited, but I'm especially happy that Jen and Bryan are happy. ;-)

I took the CBEST  (California Basic Education Skills Test) today for real. 100 questions, split between Reading and Math, and then two essays. 4 hours total. I finished the reading with 20 minutes to spare, and was glad to have it while I counted on my fingers to do the Math section. (I can set up the equations, mostly, but my computation sucks.
