Not particularly good news...

greatsword took me in to the Urgent Care Facility this afternoon. We waited a few hours, not a huge amount. The doctor was very careful, did several tests including Peak Flow and some other breathing things, and then took another set of X-rays.

It's still pneumonia and bronchitis, and flaring up again. She says they are seeing large number of people who get better while taking the immediate meds that kill off any bacterial component, and as soon as they go off them the viral stuff gets the upper hand again. The Mega Dose antibiotic will stay in my bloodstream for another 3-4 days, but I need supportive treatment to help fight off the viral stuff. So, they'd give me cough syrup with codeine except I'm deathly allergic to codeine, and the other option (Tessalon Pearls) is essentially no better than the Robitussin DM. So, I'm to take my albuterol regularly, Robitussin regularly, lots of rest (LOTS of rest) and no work at least until Wed, and not after that unless strong improvement.

The Urgent Care had a great many people there with facial masks on while waiting, so I'm thinking this Respiratory Crap is pretty Widespread. We heard of another acquaintance last night who has pneumonia.

Bleh.

Thanks for your continuing good thoughts.

health, doctor
