I can fill a bookshelf with shelves arranged for paperbacks with 3 boxes of books. Even with a little space left for the rest of the Shakespeare books I know are coming and so on. I have one filled....

Now, the debate: Should I fill one wall of my livingroom with bookshelves, making up 4, or leave 2 feet at one end and about a foot at the other. I'm thinking that the remaining space is more or less unusable and a 4th shelf will let me leave a doorway more open -- I realize it is already 6 ft. wide, but having a bookcase on one side of the doorway (Flat against the hall wall, not protruding into the doorway) gives a better feel to the entry.

Doesn't everyone debate with themselves?

I think I'll also cut a hole in the back of the bookshelf I'm going to move 2 ft left so that I can get to that electric plug if necessary.(these are those bookshelves with the 1/4" back plate you nail on, not heirlooms.) I'd prefer not to lose any of my electric plugs if I can help it!
