Chapter 40: Season Finale
This is how it all went down. This is how I was saved.
As I sat at the computer with working internet but no working browsers, I chatted to my friends on MSN. Matt sent me a message saying :"we're coming to pick you up tonight". I couldn't believe it. I asked him several times not to jerk me, I couldn't handle the tantalizing thought of going home only to have it ripped out of my hands. He said he wasn't joking and that he was rallying troops. He left Mattawa at 8:16.
8:19 I was in my room packing. Brooke and Robb walked in and I explained the situation to them. Brooke looked heartbroken and I felt horrible. Heartbroken that I was leaving this ray of sunshine in near-tears.
9:00 I was in the kitchen explaining to Vikee that I had to leave right away. I called Lori and she pretty much laughed in my face about it. Maybe she was going crazy that she was losing ANOTHER one, maybe she saw it coming. Maybe she's laughing because I didn't sign a contract and I'm not gonna get paid.
10:00 I was at walmart with all of my belongings in a shopping cart, sitting on a stoop of "easy home" playing Zelda. The cops drove by twice but realized I was harmless.
11:15 I was holding Jeran in my arms, hugging someone I didn't expect to see for a week. It felt great.
The entire car ride home I was afraid I would wake up from this too good to be true dream. I am awake now at my computer and still feel slightly intoxicated at the thought that I am at home. HOME. This place may seem boring to others, but for the moment I am enlightnened and how amazing this place is.
I'm home and I can't say I would want to be anywhere else.
