Random Act of Senseless Kindness

There is a song written and recorded by Gary Baker, Frank Myers, and Jerry Williams and originally recorded by Baker & Myers called Random Act of Senseless Kindness. I love the song. It had a message for me and it pretty much became a theme song for my life. Their album can be found here.

A few years later, a group called South Sixty Five had a hit with the song.

In my day-to-day life I try to do nice things where it's least expected. When I go through a highway tollbooth, I hand out a piece of candy with the toll money, or I will see a beggar on the street and drop a little something extra into his tray, or get something nice for a family in trouble. Nobody asks me to help, I just happened to see a need, and noticed I had a little extra I could afford to give. No biggie, and if it brings a smile on someone's face, that's all the thanks I need. if someone insists on repaying it, I always tell them to find someone who needs it, and give it to them.

But I digress. Back to this story...

Several months ago, I was doing an Internet search on the song for someone and in my search I came across this video. It's done by a young lady named Haley Breedlove. It's a great rendition, adapted to bringing awareness and combating school violence and bullying. I hadn't even thought about that aspect of the song, but I like it. I also wanted to find a copy of Haley's rendition, but I couldn't find it, outside the video.

So I wrote an email, asking where I could purchase it. A couple of days later, I received an email from Linda, Haley's mother. She told me that the song was on a demo CD, but not on an album. She would see if she could find a copy of the song and email it to me.

In the crush of things to come, including my vacation in July, it slipped my mind. But about 2 weeks ago, I heard the South Sixty Five song on the radio and that reminded me to write another email. Linda answered and said she tried to email the song, but it bounced. It was a bit too large, I guess. So she asked for my address, which I gave. Last weekend, I received a large envelope in the mail with two CDs, a DVD, and some great material about Haley. Haley's mom told me that it was OK to pass around the song Random Acts, so I ripped the song, gave it proper ID3 tags, and uploaded it to my domain for downloading. You can find it here. : http://jadephoenix.org/HaleyBreedlove/Haley_Breedlove_-_Random_Acts_of_Kindness.mp3. Feel free to download it and pass it around. Haley also has an album out on Amazon from when she was 13. You can find that here.

Why am I writing all this? Because I think Haley has a lot of potential. I like her music and I like her message. I also like her personality. I see it in both the letter I got with the material, and with the email I got from her and her mom. So my random act in this case it to ask others to give her a listen. I was more than happy to download her album, and I will likely support her music by buying future albums. At the very least, you can download the copy of Random Acts of Kindness and pass it along. It doesn't cost a thing and perhaps you will enjoy this rendition as much as I do.

Edit: I cleaned up the links a bit.
