This weekend I was downtown with some of my friends for the Final 4 games. While my friend and I were in line to get some food I noticed 2 Muslim girls staring at my friend. I knew they were Muslim because they were covered up in typical oppressive Hijab Muslim fashion. I noticed the girls were checking out her Cleavage, not in a sexual way but in almost a "I wish we were that free" Kinda way. I then heard one of them remark that she would like to be able to wear whatever she wanted, and the other said "Yes but our father would kill us!" This type of thing always makes me sad. These 2 girls had to have been 16 or 17 at most. The age where you have to respect your parents wishes because you are under their rules. I can only hope that these kids will eventually come to their senses and try to break they cycle of oppression. Sadly most of them would rather respect their parents then risk anything. As we have seen all over the world, the cost of breaking these religious rules can sometimes mean death, Especially in Islam and especially for girls.
