E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!!!

The old cliche goes, "the third time is always a charm." That is not the case facing our beloved home team this time around. They had their chance last season to prove the old saying to be true. But nothing is ever set in stone. Never was, never will. This time around though, the Birds have that undeniable chance again to reach immortality in the world of the NFL. Do they dare achieve greatness? Or do they once again leave their homefield downtrodden, filled with disappointment...only to believe that there is a next year.
I believe the Eagles have what it takes to win this year. A much improved defense, a very decisive quaterback (which I thought I'd never find myself saying), and an offense that has faced the humiliation of losing 2 out of 3 years in a very resentful way. Of course, the whole team lost in the previous three NFC championship games, but when the offense can only score 13 points in two NFC championship games, there is much more hardship that faced an offense that high soared through those two seasons. The Eagles offense has faced many questions and ridicule after the loss of Owens, but they have proved that they can step up to the challenge after playing like there was no tomorrow against Minnesota. And the Eagles can once again step it up in two days to play an average ranked defense (14th in the league, but very, VERY good pass rush) and shine their way to the place everyone desires to be from the day they understand anything. Face it, how many times have you dreamed of playing in the Superbowl at least once?
The Eagles are on the doorstep once again to the most beloved sporting event ever to be created. Thirty-eight times, 76 different teams have had their chance to step onto that playing field (Eagles being one of them, but only once...and one of the only teams never to win one). The Eagles know what they have to do this year. They know they have to win. It's about that time for the Eagles to step up and achieve what the team has desired for three years...a spot in the Superbowl, a piece of immortality, and a chance to exorcise the demons that plague this sports team and town of Philadelphia. Superbowl XXXIX is just around the corner (or about 3,000 miles away), but it's OUR time.
