Music Recs-Bands you've never heard of

I promised more updates, so here you go.

On Monday I went to see this band Sleeping States. I'd got into them last year when they were supporting Noah and The Whale. The gig was at the Freebutt which I've never been to before, it's such a lovely little venue! And it's tiny, I don't think you could fit more than 80 or so people there. And there were only 30 something on Monday. Totally my perfect venue.

So Recs! Martha Rose. She was the first support act and so good. Her voice is just lovely and she's fantastic live. I haven't really stopped listening to her EP. She has a myspace which is worth cheeking out.

The Beautiful Word, these guys were really a surprise, they got really into the music and were playing around with each other and the crowd. They also have two female leads who sound really good together. I was the first person to buy their CD and Megan gave me a FIVE leafed clover, which is pretty amazing. Their website I think they also gave me a job? They're looking for a photographer to do some live shots, I gave them my website and Megan emailed me back and asked if I'd like to work with them in the new year. So \o/

And The Laish Quartet, Danny has a really unusual voice but it works well with the music and Cathy on backing. They take a while to grow on you but really worth it. They invited me to their show on the 4th October, but idk if I can get there. Who knows, I'd love to do it. The Laish Quartet
