Remus spent the better part of three hours walking, playing scenes over and over in his head. What had happened. What he did wrong. What he could have changed.

He couldn't get Sirius' voice out of his head. Or the look in Severus' eyes when he said he needed time alone first. He wasn't sure it was even fair to be standing at Snape's door right now, but he was so tired and he needed... something. After a moment's hesitation he knocked on the door, just below the Slytherin seal.
