So, today.

I just got a facebook email from the hideous ex-friend.  I'm still friends with her sister, and I mentioned to the sister that ex-friend's husband kept calling me to meet up for coffee, and I kept blowing him off so as to stay out of the awkwardness/bullshit/drama.  However, I don't want to offend him, so I said to the sister that if she wanted to come to my place and bring the husband with her, then that would be okay with me - and if ex-friend wanted to come too, I'd keep it civil. The email was to the effect of "I heard what you told my sister, and none of us (including the children) are interested in catching up - we've moved on with our lives."

Several things with that.  First of all, way to misread the situation.  I mean, it's possible the sister misinterpreted and that there's a slight case of Chinese whispers happening, but at no time did I ever say I wanted to be friends again, I just didn't want to avoid her husband forever.  Secondly, if she's not interested in catching up, she may want to tell her husband that, as the guy keeps calling me.  Thirdly, "children", plural?  Um, no.  Only one is hers, the others were illegally adopted and if I could prove it I would, and that would be the end of that.  Fourth, under what possible circumstances would I ever even WANT to see the kids?  It's not like I ever did before.  Fifth, no, she hasn't moved on with her life, she's living with her parents despite the fact that both her and her husband have jobs.  And finally, she blocked me (again), before I even had the chance to respond, so she's clearly done a total of zero in the growing up department.  So that really is the end of it as far as I'm concerned - I tried to end the animosity, but I'm done putting in any effort whatsoever.  I've blocked her husband's number, and if I ever see him I'm going to flat-out tell him about all the men she's slept with since he married her.  I'll stay friends with the sister, but any and all conversations involving her are now off the table.  And more to the point, if I ever find a way to prove that one of the "men" she slept with was actually a teenager, I'll have her fired, arrested, and divorced with one phone call.  Oh, and if I wanted to, I could be childish too - the whole world could find out that the "incredible weight loss" she "worked so hard for!" is actually the result of lap-band surgery she paid for with funds that were donated to the charity she runs.  So she better make good on her word to leave it at that, because if I hear from her in any context at any time, her life is over.

In other news, I saw Breaking Dawn, Part 1.  Things about that:

*Bella looked sick as she walked down the aisle.  I wanted to offer her a jordan almond.

*The dream sequence wedding was so stupid it circled back around to being hilarious.

*Kristen Stewart is still a less annoying Bella than the Bella in my head that the books created, so kudos for that, I guess.

*Rosalie's intense babybrain was just as nauseating as in the books, as was the notion that all women are fascinated by procreation.

*Bella's wedding dress?  Look, I didn't hate it.  It was a bit Pippa Middleton, but the lacework was pretty.  K-Stew has gotten too skinny for it though, and if she's going to wear a bikini like that white number she was in at the waterfall, girlfriend needs some hips first.

*I loathe myself a little bit, but I kind of want to see part 2 now.

*Here's the thing.  I know that seeing the movies = giving money to Smeyer = giving money to the Mormon Church = funding evilness such as Prop8. But in that case, wouldn't watching Criminal Minds be the same?  AJ Cook is a Mormon (though I don't know if she practices tithing, and besides, she seems awesome and not in the least bit homophobic - after all, she's friends with Kirsten Vangsness who is engaged to a woman).  There are lots of things I buy/use everyday which are probably owned by scary companies who are owned by even scarier parent companies who do things I wouldn't agree with on an ethical basis.  This is one I just happen to know about.  I'm not saying that makes it okay, just that there are bigger issues at play here than money.

*Well done makeup department on making K-Stew look awful in her pre-vamping phase.

*Rob Whatsisface plays Edward not in a way that makes me like the character, but in a way that makes me feel like I'm not alone in hating him a little.

*The raucous pre-stag-party laughter sounded stagey and fake.

Patch out :D
