So it's Sunday, June 26th, which means it's finally here - it's True Blood day! Well, technically it's tomorrow for me - it's only the 26th here in Australia because it's the future here. Over in the land of the free it's still the 25th, so I have to wait for you guys to catch up *nods*. But that's okay - I could watch online tomorrow afternoon, but I've decided to wait until tomorrow night because I'm working in the late afternoon/evening, and it's going to be a bitch of a shift, so I figure I'll need a reward when I come home :) Also, I'm hearing whisperings about the second episode being available on HBOGO or whatever it's called - can someone please internet that for those of us in other countries? Because, omg. True Blood. Two episodes of. Must have.
I've watched a few clips because I'm a spoiler whore. Here are some of my opinions which the fandom seems at odds with (though the True Blood fandom are sometimes ... vocal, shall we say, in their opinions).
*I like Luna already. Probably because she's played by Janina Gavankar, but anything to get Sam away from mooning over Sookie or getting involved with all the Tara Drama is a good thing.
*I adore Bill. Not just Stephen Moyer, but the character too. The rest of the fandom (or at least, the vocal livejournal part of the fandom) hate him with an unreserved passion. I love him, and I don't care what anyone else thinks :) I just watched a clip where he and Jessica have a heart to heart about her drinking from a human other than Hoyt - theyre so cute together. He took her hand and said "Jess ... vamp up". Hee. I want to hug him.
*Look, Eric's awesome and all, don't get me wrong. And he's sort of hot, but ... everyone is acting like he's absolutely motherfucking perfect, and in reality, he has floppy hair, strangely shaped shoulders, and chipmunky teeth. Now, I'm one of those people who thinks perfect is boring, and it's differences that give people character, but it seems like other people just cant ... see what they're seeing, or something, y'know?
*I finally get all the Pam love. I mean, always adored her and thought she was hilairously bitchy and snarky, but in a show full of highly attractive people, she was just another hottie in the herd, but you know what? I'm beginning to get a little bit obsessed with her now :) She's rivalling Lafayette as my favourite character, and I can feel some Eric/Pam fic coming on. I love their bitchy, BFF relationship.
*Look, I never read the books. I tend to think that with any book to screen (or vice versa) adaptation, whichever you experience first will be your favourite, and the differences in the other will just piss you off (with a few notable exceptions: Green Mile and Secret Garden, I'm lookin' at you! Kudos!). But I like Queen Sophie Anne. I get the feeling most people don't like Evan Rachel Wood in the role because she's so different from how QSA was written, but I'm in love with her. So there :P
*Y'know who else I like? Sookie. Yeah, that's right. I'm Team Bill all the way, I love them together (though I'm not opposed to a fling between her and Eric/Alcide for some added drama), and the gap between her teeth is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Yeah, her accent sucks a little, but so do most of the casts'.
*Am I the only person who finds Tara hot? Because lately the fandom all seem to be like "omg naked girls yay, but not if it's Tara". WTF? The lady is smokin'.
*I know Arlene is a bigot, but she's just the cutest thing. I want to live next door to her and have her over for coffee and gossip and be her best friend.
*Anna Paquin IS Sookie, as far as I'm concerned. A lot of people said that based on the books, the actresses that play Hadley and Summer are better suited to the role in terms of appearance, but I like Anna in the role. She's more fresh faced and innocent looking than Hadley, and more grown up and intense than Summer.
*I'm excited for the witch storyline, but I'm already a little disinterested in Marnie. Like I said, I haven't read the books, but couldn't they just use Holly in her place? I like Holly, she's so trashy and sweet.
*I like the pretty, sparkly, white fairyland. I don't know why people were so butthurt over it. I mean, yeah, it's a little sweet and schmaltzy, but they're fairies, you know? Besides, apparently it's all an act for Sookie's benefit, and the fairies are really kind of icky and scary.
Other opinions:
*I'd really like it if they switched it up a little with the vampires vs werewolves rivalry - like, if Alcide and Jessica, for example, became friends even though they're totally not supposed to. I also think, if Jessica is going to work at Merlottes, her and Lafayette need to be BFFs.
*I can't wait for more Andy Bellefleur storylines. I'm hella curious about Portia and the rest of his family, and I'd lay down money that the wounded boy from Bill's season 1 civil war anecdote was a Bellefleur.
*I wish Bud Dearborne would come back! Not neccessarily as sheriff, but just because he's retired doesn't mean he's left town, does it?
Gahhhhh. Is it Monday night yet???
