Ugh... D&D today did not go as smoothly as I had planned. Even though it has only been about 6 months since I last ran a campaign, I was extremely rusty--especially starting a new one with such a complex history behind it. The plan for next week is to step up the hack 'n slash and see just how broken this party made itself (by my allowing them to use as many books as they like to make their characters).
As to other thoughts, work is currently a bit slow. After my 6-day gig at Southwest got cut down to 4, I only worked two half-days. Now, on Sunday night, I only a half-day scheduled for tomorrow--then nothing else. Ugh. It's nights like this which are most frustrating. My current paycheck for the week is looking to be about $65 (unless more gigs come in).
Compaints aside, I am really enjoying this book that I am reading, "Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling" by Bret Hart. Bret Hart was--without a doubt--my favorite wrestler growing up (I was maybe 2 years too late for Hulkamania). I had his poster, cut out his photos from magazines, and talked about his matches like they were epic battles of good and evil. All kidding aside, Bret Hart was probably one of the most influentially postive 'father figures' of childhood. Since then, I have obviously been disenchanted many times over, but that does not stop me from wanting to hear the story of his life, his reaction to fame, and his perception of pro wrestling history. The fact that Bret wrote the book himself (by keeping an audio journal throughout his career) is a rare bonus. The only other wrestling biography I know to do so is Mick Foley's "Have a Nice Day!" (which I have also read and enjoyed, although without the same sentimentality).
Yawn. Stretch. Rub eyes. That shall be it for one night. Good night, and I hope everyone has an awesome week ahead.
