1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
walked around by myself in a foreign country that I didn't know the language, have a co-ed college experience, yell at a taxi-driver in Spanish, spend a lovely and relaxing weekend on the sea with 8 other girls, take a class at Amherst, drive to Maine
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions

No

5. What countries did you visit?
Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy (both in lay-overs so it probably doesn't count). America, too
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
more money, a plan for post-graduation
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
april ? - that day I went to El Escorial and saw that stupid capea and it was freezing and windy
april 13- my birthday + director's dinner
may ? - the day of the year student lunch and muestra de flamenco and seeing thomas and being drunk all day
may 12- when i left Spain
dec 17- when ian was at Smith
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
having Oscar tell me that I speak perfect castellano at the good-bye party, impressing the guest critics with my architecture final project
9. What was your biggest failure?
being passive/ non-confrontational
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had that awful poison oak/ sumac/ ivy the begining of the school year. that was helllllll
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I was going to say my leggings but I realized that I bought those in '04. Soooooo bootlegged Spanish cds? Turron that I bought online, adapter for my ipod and stereo. AND my skirt from Zara
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone who was in Spain (esp. Mon and Evelyn) because 1. it was awesome and we did awesomely and 2. we dealt with some crazy shit; Jennie because she is in JAPAN being a rock star; my Smithies because we have yet to kill ourselves; Steve because he got himself a job
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Oh man, I won't bring that up... or will I? Naw, if you know me you know who.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Alcohol and coffee
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Returning to Spain and going to Andalucia, Visiting Marie-Laure and Jess in Geneva, turning 21, going to the Mediterranean (twice!), coming home (ie America), going up to Maine for Jess' birthday, going back to Smith (that excitement faded quickly, though, let me tell you), Ian visiting

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, overall. though this last semester I've been pretty miserable at times
b) thinner or fatter? I think a little fatter
c) richer or poorer? probably the same
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
staying in contact with people from Spain, writing letters, learning how to cook platos espanyoles
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
not too much.... maybe just spending money on booze, oh and being a spaz
20. How will you be spending New Year's?
Oh man. We spent it 1. eating delish burritos in Bridgewater, 2. drinking at Meghan's in Boston and not watching the ball drop, 3. almost losing my cell phone, 4. taking lots of pictures as Jennie and Steve tried to bitch smack each other
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
um, yes? we'll see where this goes. And also, I fell in love with Madrid and nostaljia y tal a million times from january to may.

San Manuel bueno, Martir. Other than that, I don't think I read too much important or very good literature this past year.

Amaral, La Oreja de van Gogh, Turin Brakes, O-Zone, Kanye West (yeah, I'm slow)

ipod, digital camera, an off campus work study

apparently I get everything I want because I can't think of anything. there must be something though

40 yr old virgin, batman begins
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
21--- Went out for Mexican the night before in a ghetto and on my birthday went to class (wooooo!) and then went to la cena con la directora and got absolutely smashed with some of my favorite girls in Madrid. and then threw up after talking on the phone with my sister.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A co-ed school, more money, drive + motivation, knowing what I want to do come May
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
improvised euro. maybe my new year's resolution is to wear more jewelry, though

Coffee, a good beer, friends, music

King Juan Carlos i and when leti had her baby, Beckham (because i love to hate him. hardcore. jewgador, por favor macho)

I was pretty apathetic in 05... but maybe gay marriage

Dear God---- Monica, Evelyn, Elisabeth, Jessi, the Lisas, laura, emily, the other year hcays-ers, Chad, Marcos, Oscar, Tomas, Thomas, Susi, Alfredo y Linda, my little doorman in the neighboring building, the people who announce the metro stops and tell you to take care to not introduce your foot between the car and platform on the trains; my family and friends when i was in Spain
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Basically all those people listed above. and one certain britisher
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
learning languages from scratch is HARD. traveling is pretty sweet. Single sex colleges are not natural.
