It truly is Good Friday

We are just about half into Good Friday and I already received two good things already: a lesson and a stroke of luck. First, the lesson. It actually is a common practice by a lot of people. Ready? *drums rolling* Here it is: "Don't eat meat during Good Friday". Allow me to shed light on this revelation of mine.

Today, I woke up around 10 AM and I finished reading Angels and Demons. I decided to grab a bite to eat because it was about lunch time when I finished reading. Then the realization struck me, I was going to eat meat. But I shrugged the thought off, I simply thought that no choice eh. As always, I used the oven toaster to cook chicken nuggets. The first batch came out nicely. I still had time before the second batch was done so I decided to go back to my room and watch SLAM DUNK. Upon my return, the cluster kitchen was filled with smoke. I fixed my glance on the oven and realized that the inside of the over was on fire! Poor nuggets! I opened the oven and the flames embraced the welcome gush of fresh oxygen to burn. I knew I was nearing panic mode because the smoke around the smoke detector was beginning to thicken and I knew that it would be trouble. I don't want to be accused as the one who nearly burned PGPR, or my cluster kitchen, at least. (^_^).

A lot of things were going through my mind; "could I use water to kill the flame?", "wouldn't it make things worse? because the oven had oil beneath it (courtesy of some of my pig clustermates who don't have the decency to use the tray there)", "Should I try to blow out the flames? wouldn't the oxygen content in my breath make it worse?". I finally decided to go with the water, good thing the fire went out. But not before it released a thick cloud of burned oil and metal. I was quick to the panel of the electric fan and quicker to switch it to max mode. Also, I turned on the blower of the stove to help the fan dilute the thick fog. Good thing the smoke alarm didn't go off. I didn't need the negative publicity. When I looked around after, the edges of the oven toaster have begun to deform, probably because of the intense heat. Also, the inside of the toaster was black. All black. Well, not that it was crystal clear before I used it. Now everything seems normal. By the way, the stroke of luck that I had was that I went to check up on the nuggets and didn't indulge myself too much on watching Slam Dunk. The situation could have been worse, especially since people here in PGPR don't pay attention to fire alarms. ^_^ Thank you Lord!
