I just spent an hour on this entry and then for some reason it just disappeared. I feel the need to explode something right now. Or maybe smash the computer, or something. So, here it is for a second time...

Yesterday was my favorite day in Hawaii so far. It was amazing. We started the day of with a hike. I pretty much died halfway there because I am really out of shape, but it was fun. After the hike, we drove to this little cove. I want to say it was called cockroach cove, but I think the sun must have gotten to me by then becuase that doesn't seem like a real name. It was really pretty there. There was this little cave that you could swim in. I was too scared to get smashed into the wall from the big waves, so I just stuck to swimming outside the cave. It was soooo nice because there weren't very many people, and it got deep fast, so you didn't have to swim out that far.

From the top of the cove.

Closer view of the cove. The cave is directly in the middle of the picture. Its hard to see. I need to invest in a waterproof disposable camera so I can take pics from inside.

We had luch at another beach where we sat on a grassy hill that overlooked the water. Then we went cliff jumping at another beach. Well, it wasn't quite cliff jumping because it wasn't extremely high, but it was high enough to be fun. You had to wait for a big wave to bring you up a couple feet before you could reach the rock that you used to pull yourself out on. I was doing fine crawling out until one of the guys we were with told me to watch out for the sea urchins. I looked into the little grooves that I was using to pull myself up with and saw all these litte black, squishy, slimy sea urchins. I kinda freaked out. The freakiness factor rises greatly when those things are right by your fingers as you are trying to pull yourself out of the water.

This is from the backseat of the van. This is pretty much the kind of view you have all the time when you are driving around the island. AMAZING!!!!

After resting for a half an hour at my friends apartment, we decided to walk to the booze cruise. Which I believe to be one of the best inventions ever. You pay twenty dollars to get on this big boat and drive around the ocean until the sun sets while being served all the alcohol you can drink. It was too full yesterday for the all you can drink boat, so we just bought some alcohol and got on another boat and sailed around the ocean until sunset. As soon as we took off, I saw a dolphin stick its head out of the water...twice. Noone else saw it, so I just looked like a stupid tourist getting all excited pointing at the water.

This is the before picture. You can totally tell by how crappy I look that we had been out all day. I don't know why I look so fat cuz I've actually lost weight. Oh well...I'm not complaing cuz this was the best day ever!!!

Directly behind us is Waikiki.

From the front of the boat. This little 2 hour trip was well worth the fifteen dollars.

After the booze cruise, we were a little tipsy, so we walked to a little japanese place and had dinner. After that, we snuck into a hotel and hung out in the hot tub for like two hours talking to all the tourists. We then ended the day by goint to this little dive bar called Arnolds. It was so much fun. By that time, I was pretty much the walking dead. The funny thing is that this was just a typical day for my friends who live out here. They all work nights, so during the day, they just drive around Hawaii and find things to do. Which isn't hard. We are going to plan a total tourist day where we spend all day doing the big tourist stuff. Like snorkeling in Hanuama Bay and going on a booze cruise and seeing all the big beaches and stuff. Which-minus the snorkeling- is pretty much what we did yesterday. It doesn't even seem real that this is my life right now and for the next five months, I can spend every day finding something new and exciting to experience. I feel like the luckiest person in the world.

Todays Hawaii lessons are:
(1) You will inevitably end up at the beach ANYtime you go out, so always have your bathing suit. In fact, just wear your bathing suit wherever you go.
(2)Don't worry about clothes. One of the guys yesterday spent the entire day without a shirt or shoes.
(3)The island is really laid back. If you go out in public with makeup, be prepared to stand out and look completely high maintenance...and kind of stupid.
(4)Fashion isn't a big deal here. So don't bring anything besides an old T-shirt and some cutoffs to cover up the ten minutes a day you aren't in your bathing suit.
