100 Reused or Recycled Things I Own

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

I absolutely love this 100 Things challenge concept.  So much so, in fact, that I have an ever-increasing list of ideas of what to do one on.  I've always love lists (evidenced by my list journal, [info]lifeoflistage, which I sadly never use), something about displaying things in a way that's easy to take in or sort of concrete ...I  don't know.  And I love that these lists aren't about ranking, or picking a top few of something out of many, as I suck at that because I take it far too seriously.  So I consider this my ideal meme, pretty much.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to follow me and contribute comments, pictures of your own, questions, whatever.  I will keep all 100 Things posts public.

For my (first) topic, I shall list 100 Reused or Recycled Things.
The tag link for it: http://passionrlsusall.livejournal.com/tag/100%20reused%20things

This list will consist of pictures (I love taking pictures) and explanation (which may include: where I got it, who owned it previously, what it's made of, how much it cost, what I do with it, what I like about it) of items I bought at thrift shops, were passed along to me by others or were possessions of my grandma's, and items I bought made of recycled materials.

For those just tuning in, I am an environmentalist, so I'm all about doing the little things we can to try to limit our negative impact on the environment.  Shopping at thrift stores/resale shops/flea markets and passing things from person to person is a great way to get stuff that you need or want without contributing to further waste by always buying new products made from new materials when there is so much that's already been made floating around out there (just visit an antique mall and you'll see how much is out there waiting to be reclaimed).  Of course, if I truly wanted to limit my impact most, I would commit to living outside and owning and using as few things as possible....which I really do consider doing sometimes.  But for now, I remain "on the grid", living in an apartment that's the first floor of an old home, and I do indeed possess stuff.
