I caught like 2 episodes of this show on tv every year, but I get your frustration.
Like in real life, so much buildup and effort often just doesn't pay off, and it's INCREDIBLY frustrating to see the same on tv. Tv is supposed to have a structure and logic, right?
And those two really seemed like a perfect match. Sending you hugs and kitties.
You know, The Good Wife is a quality show, I was watching it a little while, but then I just didn't really have this desire to keep watching. I guess partly cause there's nothing I felt was "fun" about it or probing me to wonder what would come next? Not that I don't like watching serious drama stuff, cause I do.. but all the stuff about separation and cheating and stuff- definitely not enjoyable topics. I also tried Parks & Recreation, but for 1) the camera shooting made me feel kinda dizzy, and 2) it annoyed me. heh. I thought I'd like the topic, but.. AND I also tried True Blood (I've really been testing out a lot of t.v. this year!) and what I saw of it was enjoyable enough, but then the vampires started seeming over the top and everything seemed a little too "over the top", I guess? Again, not sure quite what it was, but decided not to continue. Sorry, I'm putting down all your shows
( ... )
Haha, no problem, do so :)) Have you tried The Big C? It airs on the same day with Weeds, an HBO comedy/drama about, well, cancer. It sounds rather unorthodox, but I think the show found a tasteful, balanced way to handle the issue and Laura Linney is fantastic.
Andy is my favorite too, since season 4. I also loved Celia in the first few seasons. Her story in s4-5 was a natural place for her character to go, but she just stopped being entertaining. And Doug, lol. I love him, too, and I was so surprised that we finally met his wife Dana. I thought she's gonna be one of those characters left who are left to everyone's imagination. I'm not super excited about season 7, but I hope Nancy won't get herself out of this situation as easily as the previous times.
I haven't seen Dead Like Me, but I loved Bryan Fuller's other two shows, Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls. So I might start it soon:)
Yep, I really like The Big C. When I heard Laura Linney was gonna be on a t.v. show, I knew I had to watch, and it's really good of course. Have you seen the show Gravity? That's another good, quirky one about a strange topic..people who tried to commit suicide.
No wooooooonder Dead Like Me has been reminding me of Wonderfalls. Ha, I didn't know the same person created them. I actually am liking DLM better though. I like that there's a more established reason for her to be doing what she's doing rather than not knowing wtf all these inanimate objects are talking to her for..though I suppose that's kind of the draw of Wonderfalls. Both shows have that same type of girl with that "I barely care" attitude. What bad luck he has with good shows ending!
Gravity sounds like an interesting show. Will it have a 2nd season?
And have you tried Pushing Daisies? It's almost too much sweetness to handle, but I absolutely loved it. I love the atmosphere of these shows, but I'm not sure they could have kept these stories interesting on long-term. Btw, my favorite thing about Wonderfalls was the lesbian sister, she was so hilarious!
Oh shit, I guess not. You asking that (had you heard something?) prompted me to look it up, and it's been cancelled :( So much for that show.. it got a little...well, a lot...crazy at times, but I liked most of the characters and the premise. Its major flaw was spending way too much screen time of this really really weird, unlikable character over all the others.
I tried a couple episodes of Pushing Daisies not long ago, and there was something I didn't like about it. It SEEMS like something I'd really like though, so I was perplexed.
Don't really remember the sister.. I don't think I ever finished watching that show but I did like it..how many eps. were there? And he apparently likes naming the female stars of his shows guys names.
