I rescued a stranded young atlantic green turtle today and named her Roselyn, for my grandma who died 3 and a half years ago. We had some quality bonding time for 3 hours on an atv. Somehow I think she was happier once she got her and was put into a nice cool tub of water though. It almost seemed she could get herself back in the water, as she tried to make a (albeit slow) break for it as I first approached her on the beach. She weighs 7 pounds, is quite energetic for a stranded turtle, and is perfectly cute. The keratin layer on the top of her shell is peeling off, and she had a few dead barnacles on her, but she otherwise appears to be in good shape. I also found a dead one soon after I found her, also a green, about the same size as her. One lives, one dies, such is lifedom, I guess. That one's head was missing and its intestines were stretched out across the sargassum. Preyed upon. I'm so glad little Roselyn was left alone until I got there.
