Dear Yuletide Author letter

momentary placeholder, will be updated soon!

General likes & dislikes: I like villains, and anti-heroes, and people of complex and ambiguous morality - which is probably more or less relevant for all of these prompts. So, please don't be afraid of going dark with the characters, exploring nastier impulses etc. I do need some sort of likeability or sympathetic side, though, and I'm not interested at all in evil-for-the-evil characters. Both Jeri in Jessica Jones and Claire in House of Cards are manipulative, ruthless and ambitious, but you can also clearly see where their motivations are coming from, which is what Iike.
I am 100% okay with explicit sex in stories, although by no means feel like you're obliged to if writing sex isn't something you're comfortable with. Pretty much all kinks are go, but when it comes to D/s stuff I do like seeing something to shake it up a little - stories where the sub and dom roles are too obvious and clearly defined can bore/annoy me - for example, with Jeri and Jessica, Jeri is the one holding the reins and Jessica does what she's told, but on the other hand Jessica could also snap Jeri in two like a twig and they both know it, which is interesting. Whereas Anne as the utterly doting shy love interest to Richard's assured confidence can feel a little uncomfortable, to me. Power imbalances as a whole are fine, though - it's inevitably going to be a thing if you're including Meechum in House of Cards, and I'd expect it to show up with Anne and Richard as well. Just do it with nuance.
As you may have guessed, I'm not a great fan of mindless fluff. Even in the nicer scenes I prefer having some darker edge around. With Trish and Jessica you've got their complicated backstory and the traumas they're both recovering from, and you can't think away the ambition in House of Cards. Even Richard and Anne: they live in a very violent, unsafe, hostile environment and that's gonna influence the way they are with each other.
