The prologue for my NaNo novel : D

Prologue
Ethan had always considered himself a normal guy. Sure, he was a djinni, but really, what did that mean in the grand scheme of things? Okay, sure, to most people he would have been considered a freak, but he was rarely surrounded by most people. He was basically always surrounded by the people he worked with, meaning other members of The Company.
The Company, for those who have no idea, is a network of denizens. They come in basically every species out there and work together to make life easier for each other. The Company is based in New York City, but has branches and offices and tiny little buildings in basically every town in every country, all over the world. It trains the denizens of the world to become doctors, or lawyers, or fighters, or anything, really. These doctors, or lawyers, or whatever, were then put to work for The Company so that any denizen could get treatment or what have you without getting weird looks, or having to hide anything. Really, it worked out well for everyone.
But getting back to Ethan…
Ethan was a regular 17-in-Djinni-years boy. He worked for a special branch in The Company, which didn’t really have a name but was often referred to as “Those Assassin Guys” because yes, Ethan was an assassin. And, okay, his special assassin branch was actually located under the Department of Warfare.
Basically, his job was to sit in the awesome apartment-like office with the other six specialized assassins, completely ignore the Head of Warfare, Kay’s, instructions, and occasionally kill stuff. If you were to ask him, he had the best job in the world. All of the assassins had code names, and since Kay thought he was terribly clever and awesome, those nicknames were the Seven Deadly Sins. Ethan was Envy. He didn’t think his name really suited him, but he wasn’t about to complain, lest he got switched with Gluttony, or Sloth, or something.
So Ethan was really not that out of the ordinary. He lived in a decent apartment with his little sister, went to work, drank way too much coffee, and had a minor short complex. On his days off he enjoyed target practice and learning how to kill “the old fashioned way” with a bow and arrow. Occasionally, he would sit and watch TV, never too much though, because that stuff rots your brain, but he always made time to watch Supernatural. Because Jensen Ackles was damn hot.
He hung out with the other guys and girls he worked with and even dated occasionally. He was by no means a loner, had regular emotions, was maybe a tad ADD and did not like peas.
So really, Ethan didn’t understand why the “Powers That Be” were summoning him to a mission briefing. After all, they had said it was for someone “extraordinary,” which Ethan certainly was not.
He felt the cold wind of doom as he stared at the summons in his hands.
