One Big Ball of Nerves Coming Right up!

Jan 07, 2009 22:13

The race is officially 3 days and 7 hours (give or take) away. The packing has commenced and we will leave for Florida tomorrow after work. I am one big ball of nerves. At this point I am hoping that I have remembered everything. I guess if I haven't remembered it by this point I either don't need it or can buy it at the Expo.

However, I have had so many people tell me good luck in the past 3 days that it is incredible. I didn't realize this many people even knew I was running a marathon. I figure most of them probably think that I am nuts... but I am ok with that. Another group thinks that I really like Disney and Mickey Mouse. The last group thinks that I am some sort of athletic god/hero. That last group is my favorite. :)

Now someone please tell me why I have an entire luggage just dedicated to my running stuff. I mean seriously, this thing is the size of a typical airline regulation carry on luggage and it is slam packed to the top with my running stuff. How much stuff could one person need to go on a short 26.2 mile run.

You tell me
  • 2 Running Skirts (I can't decide which color I want to wear)
  • 2 Long sleeve shirts (cold weather is pretty much out but just in case)
  • A short sleeve shirt
  • A No Sleeve shirt
  • Running Shoes
  • 3 Pairs of socks (Just in case)
  • 4 pairs of running underwear (Because everyone has their favorites)
  • 2 Shorts bras (Again just in case)
  • Garmin 305, the Heart Rate Band and charger
  • Nike Visor
  • Running sunglasses
  • iPod, headphones and charger
  • Hair Bands
  • 6 Gu's
  • Water Bottle and hand holder
  • 3 Mini Clif Bars
  • 3 packs of Clif Shot Bloks
  • Timing Chip (already on my shoe)
  • SPIBelt (2 of them because they match my skirts and I haven't decided which skirt to wear)
  • Disney Waiver
This doesn't count the numerous bags of pretzels we have put aside for me to pack. This is strictly just my running stuff. Kenny and I had to start a second luggage for our "Normal" clothing. 4 days worth of clothing for 2 people fit in the same size luggage as my running stuff. I know that I am way over packing. I would rather have it with me and not need it. Once I get past the first marathon, I will get into a rhythm. I over packed for my first half marathon too. (Heck I over packed for my first 5K. Who runs a 5K with a camelbak that holds 1.5liters of water?)

Meet my Running Luggage

It's ok... you can make fun of me later!

Well folks, this is it.

I am hoping to post again sometime before the race but no promises. Computer access from here on out will be pretty sparse. I will try to update once we get in Orlando if possible. Thanks for all of your help and support thus far. I will think of each of you as I run. If you have any last words of wisdom/ encouragement, I will appreciate anything I can get!

For more information on the Marathon Visit  this website. They have a course map that will show you where I will be running in the parks.

If you are interested in tracking me throughout the race, here is the necessary info. The tracking system isn't always reliable but anything helps right.

They will sent updates to you by text or email when I cross the 10k, 21k, 30k, 40, and Finish. You will need to know my first and last name. Also my bib number is 15372.
