Today is Saturday, my normal endurance day but since I just completed 2 half marathons back to back I took the day easy. Kenny and I did a leisurely 5 miles around the neighborhood. (Aka really slow) We goofed off and had fun and that is all that matters.
So to the topic at hand... Spirit of the Marathon.
I would highly recommend this movie to any runner or fitness enthusiast. It is a very motivational film about the reality of training and running a marathon from the amateur to elite level. I was fortunate enough to go see the movie with my new running friends of 1 week! LOL Macon Tracks Running Club loaded up a big ole van and drove an hour north for the event.
All I can say is that there is nothing like sitting in a movie theater with a bunch of runners watching a running movie. I laughed a lot, sat on the edge of my seat quite a bit and shed a few tears but overall am so thrilled that I made the decision to go. Not only do I have a renewed motivation but I got to know some really awesome people.
The best part of the trip was the ride home hearing about my fellow runners experiences with the marathon. Some have done many, some have done one. And some of us only dream of that day. But it was nice to just hear many different stories.
The movie company has decided to show the movie again on February 21 in select theaters. If you missed it the first time I would highly recommend it. This is a movie that I will buy when it comes to DVD regardless of the price.
Once again, if you are one of my non-running friends who happens to read my blog and you wonder why I would go through the trouble of running miles and miles, please watch the trailer. It explains so much and might give you an insight as to why I am so motivated when it comes to endurance running.
Here is the trailer (Thanks Youtube)
