It's Summertime!
Summ Summ Summertime! It's time for heat, humidity, dying grass and bike rides. We've been going on the Bike Through History rides on the trail on Wednesdays, which have been fun. They only average about 10 miles, which still gets us home after 9:00 p.m., so you wouldn't want them to go any longer than that.
Last Friday the BTH group had a moonlight ride (with a special dispensation from the Bureau of Parks, of course.) It was a 99% full moon that night, so apropos. Along most of the trail, however, the trees provide a lot of shade, so it got Very Dark and Creepy in several sections. Plus there were lightning bugs flashing at random times back in the woods, which was slightly disorienting. All in all, a pretty cool experience.
Tomorrow is Fresh Fruit Friday - one of the less annoying Wellness Initiatives at work. I picked up a pineapple at Wegman's and cored and sliced it using my magic Pineapple coring and slicing appliance. Of course, I had to eat some of the little bits that fell on the cutting board.
Work is a PITA right now - July 1 is a busy expiration date and everybody needs their binders, invoices, ID cards and certificates ASAP. Fortunately, my boss and marketer are both out tomorrow, so maybe I can sort things out in some kind of peace. I know I'll be bringing stuff home to do over the weekend. Or I might just go in on Monday, assuming the AC will be on in the building.
And another thing about summertime - Thank God for "Friday Night Lights", "Burn Notice", the World Cup and Wimbledon. And DVD's.
