Which is why I didn't go to work today. I woke up, felt the dull ache in what I assume to be my uterus or something of that nature, and thought, "I really don't feel like going to work today." So I called in, said I didn't feel well, popped an Aleve, and went back to bed.
Sometimes it's enough to make you almost forget why you like being a girl, which is why it's a good idea to buy yourself a new pair of earrings, or shoes, or a nice new shade of lip gloss at this time of the month. Just to remind yourself.
I remember freshman year when I used to sing: I WANNA HYSTERECTOMY FOR CHRISTMAS! Because back then it wasn't so much a dull ache as monthly agony. Remember, Linwood? Of course you do.
All of this makes me think of this story told by one of my co-workers just yesterday. Apparently, her sister was in prison at one time, and apparently, at this particular prison at least, tampons are considered a luxury and they would only give the women pads. So, according to Danette, the women would ROLL THEIR OWN TAMPONS! From the pads. Imagine that.
