Firings And Family

Jan 30, 2012 01:02

The firings...one of them happened, with my singer friend. The other one, the trombone player, decided to give it another go. Both ended rather pleasantly, though it's still not pleasant to do that sort of thing.

The bulk of the day, however, was spent with family. My mom wanted memories for Christmas, so we all went as a family to the Living Desert out past Palm Springs. It's a desert zoo, essentially, along with several botanical gardens, and it's a really neat place, with a lot of cool animals and stuff to see (and there was delicious fried chicken at a nearby restaurant afterwards). The coolest part for me, however, besides getting to indulge my scientist's streak (and send a picture of an owl to a friend), was the show we saw. The falcon was named Millenium. The African porcupine was introduced as "a rodent of unusual size".

Yes, I totally had a good laugh with the presenter afterwards when I asked if the staff included some people that had been to ComicCon :D
