Rambling or Ranting....take your pick

First off, before I start my rambling that will be kindly left hidden behind an lj-cut, I wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that I am still working on the next chapter of Torn Apart. I got another 800 words written (the next section) done tonight for a total of 2000 words. I think there's only three sections left to go although it depends on how wildly I want to skip around with POV's. At the least, I'm hoping that with holidays done and supposed 'free time' while the fam is all off at work during the day that I'll be able to concentrate more on writing. We'll see. They like having 'family time' during the hours I got used to writing the most due to classes and work this last school semester. In other words, we'll see how I adjust to writing in the daylight hours.

Whew, now on to rambling! Anyways, this weekend has been mixed with good and bad. One good thing was that I got to go to Chicago with some college buddies and saw China town and the fireworks. It was nice getting away from the parents mostly because it's an understood fact that if you put my parents together for more than 3-4 solid days they'll get into some kind of a fight. Case in point was tonight. And they fight over the stupidest things!

For instance, my mom got pissed over the fact that her clothes got rust all over them when the washing machine has been doing it for years. If you're that paranoid, stop using the damn washing machine and just use a stupid laundromat! OH wait...that means you have to do your own laundry. Whoops, scratch that idea...

Anyways, that anger got transmitted to her bedroom and dad when she went to go to bed and flipped on the light switch only to have no light. The culprit? Dad, because he went to sleep before mom did. So she yells and throws a tantrum and wakes up dad. Bleh, go figure. Then mom somehow interpreted something my dad said as being slanderous against her. What was that? To paraphrase, "You just implied that I sat on my ass all weekend." Well... I don't know what he said, but that normally is true.

She scrapbooks, sews, reads, does some graphic arts stuff (it is her profession), and watches HGTV. Occasionally she'll bake cookies as a bribe to get one of us kids to make the dough, or she'll 'help with the dishes' as a bribe to get us kids to do most of the work (even though she throws out her back while sweeping the floor...grumble...grumble...), or she'll 'look for dinner,' to get us kids up and interested so she can ask us to make it once she figures out what SHE wants to have, not the rest of us. Sigh...at least she makes her own coffee nowadays.

I'm painting my mom in a horrible light, true, but she annoys me sometimes...alot. I guess I never got over that whole rebellious teenager thing really. Oh well.

Other news for the weekend? I found myself a place to live in Ithaca! Yay!!! Now that means I can get my dad off my back. He's such a worry wort. Yes, if I hadn't heard by the end of this week, I would have started panicking, but really, give them a break. It takes forever for any type of administration to get back to people and I was working through University Resident Housing. It was bound to take a while. Of course the day I decided to actually doing something about it was the day I got my new address AFTER I e-mailed housing. Sigh...I felt so embarrassed. Oh well.

I did do some more writing this weekend though, getting my first Gundam Wing fics written. One's a Lady Une piece and the second is a Treize/Zechs Friendship piece. I'm not to happy with them, but I think they were a good first try considering I haven't done nearly as much reading for GW as I did for Inuyasha before I started writing fanfic. We'll see how it all goes.

The next things on my list of to do is to write the resolution Peppy Le Few one-shot for iyfic_challenge, beta BLOM for Mewl Neko, revise Thief and send apology to my beta Red Falcon and explain the hold-up in getting new chapters to her, and Torn Apart. None of those in necessarily that order. For not working, there aren't nearly enough hours in the day....Of course, some of those could be saved if the fam would just take out the garbage and rinse off their dishes! Bah. Better yet would be if once they were done with said dishes, they just went ahead and washed them to begin with...but that's hoping for to much.
