First things first, having dreams in which I am on a quest for Nanoha pajamas and running amok among a garage full of cars that apparently belongs to Christina's new bf (Christina being someone I haven't talked to since my Sophomore year of undergrad because we were co-department chairs for a club) made for an interesting morning ( Read more... )

Where are you in Valkyria?

And if you want, I can hook you up with the Umineko sound novels. They have taken over my mind lately, :O

*laughs*

I'm stalled on Chapter 14 because I really don't want to do that battle XD If I'm remembering where I'm at correctly. Basically I haven't touched it in a few months. inFAMOUS took over my brain and then I started reading and then the social life exploded more then usually...

I can't wait for all my weekends free again!

(just one more weekend to go)

And y'know, I could be interested. >.> And I have noticed they've tkaen over your brain, heh. I have a tendency to read posts, but I've been exceedingly lazy over replying to any.

I hate the chapter 14 battle. It took me four turns, DX

This website links to the free official demo and the english patch. If you like the first ep, I'll loan out my dvd for installing episodes 2-4. You don't really play so much as you read while music plays, but hell is the story is gripping.

Considering how much reading I do on my comp anyways, it sounds like it's right up my alley :D

The first episode does get a bit mind numbing with all the inheritance talk, but once the body count starts going up, the story really starts to move.

I love this series sososososo much, so I do hope you enjoy it as well, :D

I'm actually having a bit of problems figuring out where I need to go to get the download. The one site I was trying to figure out requires me to now how to use a katakana version of my name ;-P

Wait, I think I figured it out. Download from the mirrors not where it says DDL ...

*is a dunce*

I think I used google translations to figure out the dl? lol

Basically, you go here, scroll down and click on one of the links that say ミラー 7-14. The link on the left is the mirror, the link on the right is the site hosting it.

Then you get the patch here (make sure you download the demo patch!)

That help?

Yep, that's pretty much what I did. What in the world would I do without babelfish...

:D

Now to wait for it to download. This is going to take a while >.

Oh, a trick. Main folder holds all the downloaded stuff from the game. When you download the patch, make sure you have one folder holding all the patch stuff - so you open it and it has a bunch of funny icons. Put that folder directly into the main game folder.

So you open up the main folder and you'll see all the game stuff and then a folder labeled [WH] whatever they call it. Too many folders or dragging the patch stuff directly into the main folder one by one screws up the game.

Screencaps, lol
(I've got the full game installed right now, so mine is 4, but yours will say demo)

When you open the main folder is should look similar to this:

Well, looks like I managed to get the game installed and the patch working but I'm kind of miffed with vista because it won't display/read kanji unless I upgrade it to ultimate near as I can tell. Hah! Like that's going to happen...

What do you mean read/display kanji?

parsnip_chan September 8 2009, 15:26:03 UTC
vista reads it as wingding like symbols. I can install it on specific programs but because I don't have vista ultimate, I can't instill multiple language programs.

*shrugs*

It's a moot point so long as the game plays and it seems to be doing just fine ^^

That's good, :)

I bought my laptop with Vista already installed, so I don't seem to have all the problems most Vista users talk about - hence my confusion.

Though I have noticed that since I set my computer up to have the Japanese settings for non-unicode programs, I get less errors. Have you tried that?

Start - Control Panel - Clock/Language/Region - Change the Country/Region - Administrative tab - Change system locale (to Japanese) - restart your computer.

I think if you don't have kanji support, you just don't get the full soundtrack for the game. There are some really quiet scenes, in other words, lol

I had vista preinstalled before I ever got it so I can't imagine why our two systems would be different but it could be because I don't have the uncode thing set up for Japanese.

And yeah, you don't get the full soundtrack I think because when you unzip the file, one of the audio or music files gets renamed because vista can't read it.

I'll have to see what I can come up with ;p

I learned that after much reading on ASuki and various websites because you need to set up the Japanese non-unicode thing for the dvd with the game to install correctly.

And it really doesn't mess up anything, which made me happy. I was kind of leery about switching to Japanese settings because my knowledge of it is still rusty at best, lol
