Well, if your bank or credit card company can get a cent for every name they sell to another company and the government doesn't prevent it (except fo the opt-out option that is only moderately effective and that most people don't take advantage of), then we, kinda, get what we deserve by not demanding that the govt step up and only do business with firms that don't do this type of 'fundraising'.

Don't feel too bad about shrugging off concerns about security...it's human nature not to worry about a problem until it effects them personally. When enough people have their bank accounts transfered to a bank in Nigeria, some 'might' actually say something about it...

Yeeah. This is where the paranoid person in me says that "but they're preventing us from demanding things like that from the gov't because we're all pacified, distracted and entertained by facebook and reality TV!!" lol.

About #2.

I also dont care, because if I put information up on the internet I assume it's going to be taken by someone for something. If you put something on the internet you DON'T want someone to see, one must re-assess their outlook on honesty and the human condition.

Secondly, I dont really care if the CIA knows what movies I like, or what my favourite food is. Heh.

I posted in reply to someone who thought it was ok (whatever the Govt did) to spy on them, but haven't gotten a reply. I wasn't attempting to be snarky, I just was curious as to what those who think it's ok to lose a bit of our liberties one (or more) at a time because "we ain't doing nothing wrong" might crack and at what level of freedom lost would they balk.

This might interest you as it is a story about how the FBI has gone further than even the Patriot act allows...like there was any protection after that...

I doubt it was taken as snark...I would chalk up the lack of response to being busy or antisocial. lol

Just read that article from salon, and all I have to say is.....WOW. 2008 couldn't come fast enough for you guys. Who are you rooting for? Obama or Clinton? Or just anyone other than Dubya?

All us down heres want Larry the Cable Guy to win!!! He'd get er done!!!

Yeah, the GOP is kind of in trouble, but a lot can change in 18 months. Still, the ranting from the right should've been more logical over time. When they realized that things weren't going well they should've been upfront about it instead of blaming the media for only reporting bad stuff or for calling Bush (OUR PRESIDENT!!!) a liar. Then, when it has continually come out just how pathetic this administration is, they make all his followers look like pathetic, political hacks, or worse, stupid. Not a good thing to be seen as in a job of disseminating info. Still, Ann Coulter shows that you can be as disgusting as ya wanna be in American political discussion today.
