In case anyone doubts that birds are insane can take the cold, my house thermostat is currently set to 65ºF, and despite being wrapped in a down comforter I'm still cold, and just a few minutes ago I caught Kappa bathing in her water bowl! I think it's an odd time to do it, right before her bedtime with the house so cold, but I'm also delighted b/c I've been trying to get her to shower with me and the progress has been slow, so seeing her dunk her head straight into her bowl is nice. She came back up with the front of her head's feathers so wet, that instead of being gray/blue/brown they looked black, and were parted to the side like she had some weird haircut!
The point of this post: what's cold for me is perfectly fine bathing weather for Kappa, and likely for your bird too.
