It's hard to believe it's been four months and a bit since we adopted Chirp.
He's less afraid when I approach the cage and has finally figured out bath time. Will was never much for having a bath, and like people, some birds like baths while some like showers. Whenever I sprayed Muffin, Will also got a shower.
The first time I sprayed Will and Chirp together, Will pushed Chirp out of the way and Chirp had no idea what was going on. Yesterday I sprayed them, much to their delight. Chirp proudly fluffed up his wings, a sign that he was ready to bathe. He even sat on the treat hopper so I could spray him in one place. Chirp really likes to get wet, but he hasn't quite figured out how to use the bird bath. I've seen him dunk himself in the drinking water completely, however.
So far he seems to love greens, which is a good sign as it can be hard to feed budgies vegetables. He is also a fiend for boiled carrot. Will likes it too and I actually have to split the carrot into two because Chirp will chase Will away from a single carrot. In fact, Chirp ate so much carrot the last time, his poop was orange the next morning.
The honeymoon continues and they preen each other several times every day. They're just so pure in their love and their friendship, and although the Humane Society has more budgies for adoption, I really wouldn't want to wreck the special relationship that Will has been waiting so long for. Most nights they sleep on the swing together--it's just so ridiculously cute!
