Apologies if anyone here sees this post twice, as I crossposted it to another comm.
I'm in the market for a new toaster oven and discovered something I thought might be helpful to folks here.
I've had 2 inexpensive (under $50) Black & Decker ovens for the past 18 years. Both had stainless steel interior and lasted a good long time (one for 10 years, the other for 8), so I was just going to get another of that brand. Well, come to find out, even the ones with stainless interior now have a non-stick coating -- polytetrafluoroethylene, which is basically teflon. And after making a number of calls, I found that most manufacturers have done the same thing.
So, you can scratch B&D, Oster, KitchenAid, DeLonghi, and Cuisinart. ALL of their toaster and convection ovens have non-stick coatings -- even if the item descriptions don't say so!
The only three bird safe manufacturers I've been able to confirm so far are Hamilton Beach, Waring, and Miallegro. I haven't checked with every manufacturer, so there may be others I don't know about, as well.
Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know.
