You guys might be tired of hearing from me by now, but I definitely need some help on this one.
First of all, it's worth noting that my husband renamed the newly adopted blue crown conure Beaker, due to their striking resemblance from the front.
He's an absolute joy to own. He's tame as can be, incredibly friendly, eats anything, and he's just all around awesome. He's even potty trained. I'm assuming that the lady we adopted him from didn't even know this, because she would have mentioned it I think. I'm so in love with this little guy.
But there's a hitch...he's so freakin' clingy. If somebody walks out of the room, he screams. If you set him down, he screams. He's quiet if he's in his cage, but I'd like to be able to leave him out on the trees and boings for 10+ hours a day like we do with Kai, but he just won't have it. Unless he's directly sitting on you, he's screaming.
I've never had to train a bird to enjoy less attention from humans, just the opposite. Where in the world do we even start?
