Playstand bedding

I've been considering using a bedding for our playstand instead of awkwardly shoving newspaper around the base, but I thought I read once that some types of bedding aren't safe for birds? The primary user of this stand is a CAG. We seem to have pine chips, some type of cracked corn? and some white looking perhaps paper available at our (now only) pet place.

Also, does Poop Off work well on wood? Or is the a simple homemade solution that would work just as well?
