Matcha burd!

Hey, what we need is a dose of nanday. Matcha would be pleased to do the honor.

Matcha is a Mickaboo foster bird and is currently up for adoption. :)

Yeah, those are some stripped primaries. She zealously overpreens, and reduces the feathers to de-barbed sticks. She's getting checked out at the vet Thursday to see what's going on with that (ie, if it's medical in nature). Obviously if we find something, she won't be available for adoption until it's taken care of, but it could well be that her FDB is behavioral in nature.

She is ridiculously friendly. These photos were actually hard to get because what she wants most to do is to sit on shoulders. Forever. But she steps up very politely, and in six weeks of fostering her, she has not even nipped. She's gentle but insistant with her beak, usually when she's on a shoulder and doesn't want to get off. We're working on that.

And she has adorable nanday socks. You have to love the nanday socks.

Yes, she's also chewing her neckfeathers, including that blue bib.

And yes, she has nanday voice. She was screaming in this photo, one of those rapid-fire sets of conure shrieks. It is loud. Very loud. But she actually doesn't scream that often. For anyone whose household can handle occasional loudness, she would be an amazingly perfect bird. Unfortunately that household is not mine. :) But I adore having her!

She also likes to dance and "sing":

She will boogie and headbob when she sees a human do it, and keep it up if there's music on. She's got nothing on Snowball, but she does have a bit of a singing voice there at the end. No, nevermind, I'm not sure who would find nanday screams very musical. ;) (I had no idea that The Fray's "Over My Head (Cable Car)" was such a dance-inducing song. Shows what I know.)
