How could anyone say no to this little face?

Not me, for one. The breeder did an excellent job with little Chico. He's adjusted nicely, and it's only been a day. If he flew around and got lost, all I had to do was call him and he'd come. Well, not at first, but that was my fault as I forgot to do it in French. I put him in the cage to sleep, but he just stared at me, so I brought him out, and he was calm again, and went right to sleep on my shoulder.

All of my flock and others before him were parent-reared, rescues, cage-bound, breeders, nearly feral, screamers or biters--it's a bit of getting used to to a bird that wants to be handled, but I think I can manage ; ) Assuming I don't die of cute, of course. Anyone else have stories of only having untame birds, then having a hand-fed one who was beautifully trained and acclimatised? Also, to the lovebird owners, how much time should I spend with him? I'm willing to spends lots and lots of time with him, of course, but I don't want to smoother him. Is there a good way to know the balance? I'm quite at a loss--a bird that doesn't take months to not run in terror?

All five! They don't all share the same cage, it's more a day play cage. Those budgies are ninjas, by the way. No matter where I put millet, they will find it.

All five from a different angle. They all get along (despite minor disagreements over who gets to sit on the food dish when) and they are hard to separate. It's great to watch them all forage together, calling out to inform the others where the eats are to be had.

The budgie partners in crime, Sky and Victor. I think Sky is part English budgie, since she is puffy and round--anyone with expertise in that area? They are my first pair of budgies, so I'm still learning the ropes. We're almost at the point where they will let me hold them...almost.

Sorry about the low image quality, but I simply had to share--Spot (the cockatiel) attempts to woo Toby. It's too cute for words. His advances are ignored, and then he'll go off to find something else to woo.

Wet Toby! He's rather cage-bound, so I can really only get him to bathe right before I clean the cages, and he has to see Spot do it first. It's so lovely to see him learn things from Spot.

And another.

Wet cockatiel alert!
