i just maimed a cinnamon raisin bagel using the handle of a plastic spoon. it's not the smoothest cut in the world, but it works. i actually remembered to get cream cheese this time around, so that i don't have to try to force down a whole bagel with nothing on it, which i've decided is right up there with eating 30 saltine crackers.

have you noticed that there is a real shortage of juice in gas stations? you can get orange flavored sugar water or apple flavored drink with amphetamine in it, but not just plain old orange juice. or if you can it comes in a 32 ounce jug like the one i bought today. it still cost me only $1.19, but that doesn't exactly leave me reassured as to the quality. especially when on the label it says "country of origin: usa and brazil."

i started reading travels with charley yesterday, and i already love it. there is one part where he talks the forest and it's beauty. i'll quote to spare you from my inadequate recounting: "i can't even imagine the forest colors when i'm not seeing them. i wondered whether constant association could cause inattention, and asked a native new hampshire woman about it. she said the autumn never failed to amaze her; to elate. 'it is a glory,' she said, 'and can't be remembered, so that it always comes as a surprise.'"

i'm always surprised when an author manages to write down almost exactly what i feel, or, in this case to tell of someone else who can. it's true though, about autumn. every year it seems like it's the first time that you've ever seen the trees get that bright. maybe it's because i just appreciate it more now that i'm older. but i wasn't that much younger a year ago. either way, i find myself craning my neck to look at an especially bright maple, as i say, "holy crap! that tree is beautiful!" every time i just want to stop and sit under it and to let the leaves fall on me, but i'm always on my way somewhere. i suppose i don't have an excuse as to why i haven't done that yet, considering that i live in the middle of a forest.

i just noticed my paragraphs in this entry increase in size the further down they are. that is neat. i also noticed that i spelled raisin wrong the first time i posted this. raison. curse you, french! you wreak havoc on my english spelling.
