I'm back for a while.
I'm back from Fontana (LA), California, after three weeks of training. I'm now a Schneider National employee. I still have a week of training or more to go, but there's a shortage of over-the-road trainers, so I have to wait for their call. I'm still getting paid $300 a week to sit around, though.
I know how to shift a ten speed transmission, how to keep a trailer from running over curbs, pedestrians, and other motorists, and that the DOT loves to ticket truck drivers. I've seen photos of trailers unhooking from tractors and wiping whole families out of existence, trucks stuck under low bridges, and trucks that fell off mountains. I know how to do a 45 degree backing into a 12 foot space between trailers. Umm...My truck is orange.
