Yuletide

Dear Yuletide writer/santa/whatever,

I know this is really, really long and I'm sorry! But this is my very first time with Yuletide and I'm not sure I have any idea what I'm doing. I have no doubt I'll get things wrong, but I'm going to give it my best shot. As you can see, this is not my personal journal, which is friends only and I try not to connect it with this one. But by looking at the fics I've written, you can get a pretty good idea of what I like. You can also look at my delicious fic list to see what I like to read (and I only bookmark stuff I really REALLY like, because I tend to be picky).

Specifically what do I like? I'm a big fan of angst, though I don't usually like hugely depressing fics that make me sob (I went through that phase of fanfic and I've tried to avoid it since). I don't really like deathfic (where one of the characters in the pairing dies, I don't mind death as a plot point). I also don't want any rape fic. I do like light bondage, holding down/tying up is good (and works well as plot points if characters freak out about it) and I don't mind some mild violence (throwing against the wall, not enough to hurt, but ...) and some dubious consent. I also like introspection and plot way more than dialogue, but the fic doesn't have to be devoid of talking. I also have no problem with tears, as long as it's in character.

I especially like angst fics that include bits of a lot of the stuff I listed above and end either happily or hopefully, but include tiny bits of sweetness mixed in. I prefer slash, but if you absolutely cannot/don't want to write slash, all four of the pairings I requested would probably work well with some sort of genfic.

As for why I picked the fandoms I did (before I talk about the fandoms themselves):

Alex Rider** series: because I absolutely love this series of books and there's so much potential for slash and yet there's not nearly enough fanfic out there. You could probably get these books from your local library and watching the Stormbreaker movie works, because my Alex will always be Alex Pettyfer.

Spooks: Code 9: I watched this show on a whim and it was not really great and nowhere near as good as Spooks, but it was fun in this hilarious and unrealistic way. The characters and acting were moderate, but not great and while the het was so so, there was so much subtext that I really just threw out the canon pairings. Plus, the show was only one season and it just needs more. Sadly, I don't know anyone who feels this way, which is one of the reasons I am requesting it. I don't know if the show is available on DVD, but I downloaded it via torrent.

Skins: I've only watched the first two seasons, which I loved. Basically, I like the way each of the characters grew throughout the show and the relationships (not ships) with other characters. And while I do like the pairings the show overtly displayed, I firmly believe that the show's real pairing was Sid/Tony. I downloaded the first two seasons, but it is available on DVD, as I have both seasons.

And now I'll talk about my requests, in the order I wrote them in as requests, but not order of importance. These are just my suggestions for prompts, and if there's something you want to write that doesn't quite fit in with my prompts that's fine. Basically these are just elaborations of my optional details.

Anthony Horowitz - Alex Rider series: Alex Rider/Ben Daniels aka Fox
Further into the series, Ben/Fox and Alex end up doing crossing paths a few times. What I'd really like is Alex/Ben slash, set in the future and hopefully in an urban setting that is not London. Also Alex can be aged up so he's legal instead of 14, but you don't have to list a specific age, because while 18 is adult in the US (where I am) you might be in a different country where it's a different age. I don't know how old Ben is, but probably at least four years older, though again, this is your decision. Also, the Ben I want is not the Ben from the movie.

Spooks Code 9: Charlie Green/Rob Sullivan
If you've seen this show, you know how it ends. It's a huge cliffhanger with a major character possibly dying (I am avoiding too many details in case someone reading this wants to watch the show but hasn't). This is basically pulled from my own journal entry about the show: let [spoiler!] die so that my little shipper heart can have all the angst filled, emo, tear-stained (because you KNOW that Charlie's the crier) violent 'we both loved [spoiler!] sex' kind of thing. Now, you totally don't have to go by that (or anything directly related to the possibly character death), because I'll just be happy with someone writing me some sort of slashy Charlie/Rob post-finale fic. But that's kind of what I was thinking while I was watching it.

Skins: Sid Jenkins/Tony Stonem
Like I said in my little show details section, I firmly believe that the show ship should have been/was Sid/Tony. They are best friends from the very start and they grow up with each other (and in love, out of love, etc) constantly. And, of course, this scene at the end of s2 is the most heart breaking break up scene EVER. What I want is Sid/Tony slashy fic set after Sid's trip to NYC to find Cassie (it doesn't have to be a successful trip, but it can be, up to you), perhaps set at Tony's uni. Again, this are just suggestions!

Anthony Horowitz - Alex Rider series: Alex Rider/Wolf
I'd prefer Wolf as he was in the movie (played by Ashley Walters). Fic wise, I want slashy Alex/Wolf. Again, with Alex being of age. It could be that Alex is on a mission with Wolf, or Alex is sent to help Wolf or vice versa. Or something completely different, especially if you have something in mind.

** If we were matched because of Alex Rider (which seems likely, though I don't really know how Yuletide really works), the only real constant I have that covers both pairings (aside from slash) is that I want Alex to be modeled off of the Alex Pettyfer from the film. An aged up Alex Rider might look like a 19 yr old Alex Pettyfer as seen here and here from a recent photo shoot. Also, if you haven't read Crocodile Tears, don't worry about it because, though I may have read it right after it comes out, I know that not everyone has!

Also, if for some reason you're an Alex Rider fan and a SJA fan and decided you wanted to write Alex Rider/Luke Smith, I would NOT complain AT ALL. Just saying.

yuletide
