So, here are a few cakes I've been working on with FormerRoomie lately. It's been a busy August.
Baby Blocks Shower cake (Vanilla Bean flavour) with gumpaste converse shoes:
The Cake's innards and a shot of the whole cake in the background
Instagram awesomeness
The completed cake (had a small block boo-boo when it was stored away on a high shelf during the shower.....oops...)
The green tint is the gorgeous colour the parents-to-be painted the baby's room, so it was incorporated into the design.
Another gratuitous shot of those amazing booties!
Speaking of booties, next is the booty cake made for a friend celebrating a milestone bithday:
Fondant ribbons and rosebuds
Piped lace on the booty shorts
Garters with a sparkly board for pretties!
The finished cake. Need to work on that cellulite, girl! Chocolate sponge with Creme de Cacao-flavoured simple syrup and frosting.
The booty has a white-on-white inscription to the birthday boy; he would have had to get nice and close to dat a$$ in order to read it (which was the point).
We joked that we were working off pics from the girls from Jilly's (for those not based in TO, this is a particularly craptacular sleazy peeler bar that's been around for ages). We now know how to fix zee jigglybuttz for the future (derp).
...but what truly creeps me out about this cake is how realistic I managed to make that "Barbie" fleshtone fondant. It's practically cannibalistic. *shudder*
All in all, I see many mistakes and things I wished i/we had done better, but the most important thing is that the clients loved their cakes and we received so many compliments on them! So, that's what really matters....though I won't stop trying to improve my methods as much as I can, forever.
