Booking Through Thursday: 'Fess Up!:Okay, there must be something you read that's a guilty pleasure . . . a Harlequin romance stashed under the mattress. A cheesy sci-fi book tucked in the back of the freezer. A celebrity biography, a phoned-in Western . . . something that you'd really rather not be spotted reading. Even just a novel if you're a die-hard non-fiction fan. Come on, confess. We won't hold it against you!
Well, truth be told mine's is buying magazines for travel reading: it started off as Seventeen when I was in high school (which is when I realized that no one who actually was seventeen seemed to be reading it), and got a bit more serious as I started taking 20 hour plane rides twice a year or more. Martha Stewart's Living was my first venture in to the land previously occupied only by the Ikea catalog (a true guilty pleasure for me), but since last year, I've taken to buying a Real Simple before leaving: justifying, of course, my purchase by the fact that I use and abuse their website, and their food is actually cookable... but the gadgets, the how-tos which I won't use... mmmmm...
