If there is someone on your friend list who makes your world a better place just because s/he exists and whom you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
Well... one day late!
Booking Through Thursday - How many books do you usually take with you on vacation? Too many? Too few? Do you still have room to pack clothes?
It's always too few, in my opinion. My family and luggage porters generaly disagree. The worse case would be when I went to France for two weeks with 2 paperbacks - I think I read those books 3 times apiece. The most out of control situation: three 2-inch plus hardcovers for 10 days in Singapore (2 of the books were 4-novels-in-1-volumes.) Par for the course? Slightly higher than a book a day if expecting either significant travelling time, leisure, or reading lights. Otherwise, 1 book for every 2 days.
I always have room for clothes, somehow. Somewhere. Usually that's because I carry books in my carry-on. Or it could be that I always look like I'm fleeing the country when going on a week-long trip. And since I have my wonderful PDA (which I am not taking into account for these numbers), it's got all sorts of useful ablities like extra books in a small package.
- What kind of books do you read on vacation?
Really, a bit of everything, mostly mysteries or fantasty. Whatever series I'm working on at the moment is the usual culprit, though I often take along one old standby just in case.
- Do you read the same kind of books when you're on vacation as when you're at home?
To be certain! The one exception to the general rule would be reading books related to the location (HH or Aubrey/Maturin for a beach trip, The Book of Tea while heading to Kyoto, almost anything on my bookshelf for London, etc) Chances are though, I would read these books anyway - it's just that the location is an extra part of it :)
