F'ing scammers cheating dog owners out of money for a worthless piece of paper and cheap generic ribbon. Oh, and you can buy those ribbons for mere pocket change wholesale or at any local dollar store for probably less than $1. If you have kids, maybe you've seen these given out like candy on Halloween in order to encourage kids to read. That certificate probably cost less than $5 to make, including the paper "frame". (I used to do that and the gold embosed stars for my pedigrees and certified that those met AKC standards, not that I just printed off whatever the owner wanted it to say.)

They talk about not discriminating. Well, AKC doesn't either! If you have a purebred dog with the registered pedigree to back it up, you can enter in any show you want. If you don't want to deal with handlers & politics, you can go to the smaller shows or go to the UKC shows (they honor AKC registered pedigrees). I started as a complete blank slate and gained a UKC championship title on my Dar by only going to a handful of shows, and now he's about half way to an AKC Obedience title. I'm not a professional handler. If I can do it, anyone can do it as long as their dog does truely have what it takes.

"Panel of experienced judges"...How'd they get their experience, how were they tested, and who certified them? Beyond that, what standard are they judging the dogs against? AKC judges have to study AKC breed standards for years (seminars, etc.) and serve as judges for a number of puppy matches before they can even take their certification test. Then, they have to continue to attend seminars and such to stay certified. And, part of their training is how to ID key characteristics in minutes. What the hell are their "judges" going to see from looking at a home picture of the dog. Many points that are checked in conformation can only be felt--especially if we are talking about dogs with coats. Even I've spent enough time around poodles (and that isn't much) to know that what you see in the coat doesn't tell you jack about what is under it. A good groomer can mask an unproportioned chest with a pair of scissors and a blow dryer. Also, part of the point of having shows is to gauge the overall dog as possible breeding stock. A dog isn't worth shit if it has a terrible temperment. Personally, I won't breed Dar to any female Boxer without an Obedience, Agility, or Schutzhund title beyond the Conformation title.

"Our judges merely evaluate the photos to be of the breed each owner claims. The true judges at the American Champion Club is each owner of each dog. Only you can truly decide if your dog has what it takes for you to hang an American Champion certificate in your home." Yeah, right! This BS and stating that there is a 100% money back guarantee if the dog doesn't get a certificate--just tells me that they want your money.

A Stud book? I don't see anything about submitting a pedigree on this site. The whole point of a stud book is to list the parents of every bred dog/bitch so you can research pedigrees. This bogus company even lists spay/neutered dogs in their stud book. It's not a stud book then!

dar, scams, dogs
