despite my love for dc, i have recently had a strong pull towards springfield. i remember when the education question in longmeadow was big big in high school, and i was pretty up into that scene, i loved the political activity, at least. then we got gay marriage rights a few years back. historic. we've got a lovely area. it's just that springfield's -- and the poorer parts of western mass, really, including holyoke and easthampton -- gotten the rectum view from boston.

recently, springfield's been named sixth poorest in the nation.

what does that say with about us as longmeadowans? disparity between rich and poor? our own political and social activity/appreciation for our area? are we all moving out? myself included? is it for better opportunities?

or what?
