is this bad?

is it bad that i've been really nostalgic lately? coming up along the last post, my nostalgia has recently eaten me up and as soon as my energy goes down from being at school (whose (is that the right possessive?) environment i really love -- easy-going classes, decent and great students, and really nice colleagues) i start to get homesick and a little bit well, homesick for other things. this post has just become as angsty as when i started it. oh the days..

i miss joanna. or, i miss how it was when we were together. going over her livejournal (yes, i suppose i still know it), i reread the old posts when we were together -- hm. not healthy, i suppose. but this is how life goes, no? you miss the things you once had. oh le sigh.

in other news, merchant of venice is playing here in santiago. by playing, i mean there are players...um, playing the roles of the characters...oh hell, it's in the theater (not movies, theater theater...like, stage, you know, remember that like, wooden, like, thing like?). it shall be interesting as heck to see how it works in spanish as well as how one interprets the staging and setting and everything. should be interesting. i will get in touch with my old shakespeare teacher and see what she thinks i should look out for. i've never actually seen or read the play. hm.

in other other news, if you haven't seen it in my gmail or whatev, i am teaching american poetry (!!!!!!!) which should be funtastic. i have to do some research. if ANYONE knows some good resources online that would be lovely. or has some bibliographical info that i could plunder, again that would be lovely. i need to get together some info, biographical, and theoretical and all historical if possible. what was going on in the US at the time, etc etc.

i continue with work. i like it. it's stressful, that's for sure. i got a massage, and boy did i fall asleep with all that relaxation business. honestly. i need to relax a lot more. a small vacation is in order. i'm thinking valdivia. we shall see if that works out.

for now, i'll leave it to the ol' signature to take us away...
