What the fuck is this? An update, I'm glad no one reads these anymore XD
Anyway, It's been two years since i made a post, but this is really just a thought process...
because I some times don't know where I stand politically... I mean, I'm poitically minded, I've opinions and ideals that I stand strongly behind, but what are my views, where do I stand?
I know I'm not a republican, but i'm not a democrat either...
I seem to have a lot in common with one side of libertarians, but they're their own spectrum from Penn and Teller to Tea Party.. thats too vast a spectrum...
But I don't want to be labeled either...
So I guess I'll just express my own views and see where they land.
The Purpose of the government is to run a country. I stand that this is vital, as any group eventually forms a government, Anarchy doesn't fit human nature, because as soon as someone tells someone what to do, and they listen, Anarchy is broken. I have a rebellious spirit, I won't listen, or won't respect people of authority who prove to me that they are fucking idiots.
So let's begin with what Government should do.
First: the Bureaucracy that comes with running a country, handle funding, handle the laws, and make sure peoples rights are being upheld.
Second: What are those rights?
We say we have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is great, those are our inalienable rights.
So lets tear that apart and look at life! The basic needs of life are Food, Water, Air, and Shelter. Those are the minimal components that a human being needs to survive. So the government should ensure that humans have a right to food, and we do with Foodstamps, which I support for the most part, but after working at a register and seeing some of the stuff that that money is spent on, well I think we need some limits on it. First off: Soda. I drink Soda constantly, but its not good for you, it has no nutritionally qualities, its filler, its junk food, this shouldnt be on the list of OKay foods, these, candy, cupcakes... this stuff i feel should be limited.
I mean, I've seen people spend over a hundred dollars on junk food, nothing of nutrition, nothing that has any health benefits. It should be used for Juices, cereals, meats, veggies and fruits, not laffy taffy, coke, and tastey cakes.
Homeless shelters are great things, and building these should be encouraged. They create jobs (someone has to watch over them and clean them) they give some people places to live and stay and protection from bad weather. And these should be kept to the same standards as any public building. I mean, some people may rely on these, but I'd say most would use them as a stop over as they get thier lives back together.
Clean water is critical, and New York City tap water is cleaner than the popular brands of bottle water, so I'd say this is successful.
As for Air, clean air acts are great things, arent they? Have you seen the smog in some other nations big cities? Its scary.
Now, this is great, but now we got to extend this to health, because everyone should have a right to good health, so i support universal health care. Good health is part of life, and we have a right to it. I mean, try finding a lump somewhere as you just get out of college. You're not on your parents inusrance anymore, you don't have the school's doctors anymore, you're fucked. And this is just horribly wrong, why don't people see this?
Next we have Liberty.
Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, and so on and so on...
Freedom of Speech is a beautiful thing and yeah it can be abused, but you know, so what? Someone says your god was a pot smoking hippie? Get a life and grow up. The freedom of speech comes with the freedom to offend, whether its offensive or not, its protected. I don't see why people get so offended, I don't get offended when people call atheists all crooks and no good people, I'll try to change thier mind about that, but if i can't... well i can't. I try to live by the example that I am a good person, I try to be the best person i can be and help my fellow humans. I've hurt people, I've said mean things to people, but i always feel bad about it and want to make amends. And isn't that whats important?
We need to give people the freedom to do whatever they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else's right to do what they want. Think about that, you ant ot smoke pot... well is there anyone around who doesnt want that near them? Sweet go for it! Are you going to drive intoxicated? Well are there people on the road who don't want to avoid your drunken swerving? Yeah, well thne don't fucking drive. See it can almost always work out.
Equality? You can't do anything about how you were born, therefore that should be respected. Don't hate someone becuase they're black or white or hispanic, no one chooses their race. No one chooses whether their gay or lesbian. You can't choose your sex and you can't choose who you life, there's nothing anyone can do about these things and therefore they can't be changed, so hodling anything against this people is fucking stupid. Judge people on thier actions and intentions, not the superficial.
If you disagree with me, the go for it! explain yourself and back it up, it'll be fun!
