wastedcarnival. You beesh. I feel bad doing Rui's character here. hahah.
If Umi gets a dollar every time he gets his picture taken, he could be rich by now.
"Don't you get tired of my face?" The older asks, but the bug eyed drummer just shrugs, "Oh, no." Tohya tells him then closes his phone.
"Whatever you want." Umi scoffs then fixes his guitar. He arrived the earliest (like usual) and Tohya arrived next - taking the guitarist's picture 5 minutes into the studio. Umi hears the shutter's sound from behind him, he just chuckles. "And in a minute you'll be blogging about this, huh?"
"You know me too well, leader-san!"
Umi stays silent and then tunes the amplifier a little, "You know that he's getting a little jealous over this behavior of yours, right?"
"Well, yeah... But I've been doing this to you before you started dating." Tohya shrugs, no care on the matter evident in his voice.
"Fine. Like I can stop you anyway. And it's not as if I'm not jealous over Tomo for doing the same."
Tohya laughs, "Then again, Rui is a girl. Girls are hardcore when they're jealous."
"Be very careful then." Umi turns to Tohya, the drummer just smiles.
"Oh." Is the only thing Rui says when he arrives and finds Umi and Tohya together in one room.
"Hey, babe." Umi greets him but Rui just raises an eyebrow, "Why didn't you pick me up?"
Umi removes his guitar and places it back on its case before walking towards his boyfriend, "I told you last night, right? I needed to be early today."
Rui glares at Tohya who just laughs, "I just arrived too, Rui."
"Fine." Rui tiptoes and gives Umi a good morning kiss, "I haven't eaten. Is it okay for me to steal my uber hardworking boyfriend from all his work for a quick breakfast?"
"30 minutes and back?"
"30 minutes and back." Rui smiles then locks his hand with Umi's. The younger waves goodbye to the drummer who's just smiling at the scene. The bassist then drags his boyfriend out of the studio leaving Tohya alone in the room.
If Tohya has a dollar every time he smiles to hide the pain, he'd be a millionaire.
He takes out his phone and browses through his gallery and he enters inside the folder unashamedlessly called 'stalker pics' to look at all the pictures he has of their leader.
"Don't you get tired of his face?"
Tohya turns to the sound of Yuh's voice, the drummer shrugs, "I guess I don't."
"I told you before, man up. If you did you wouldn't end up in the sidelines."
Tohya closes his phone, "We all know he won't ever like me. He's scared of me."
Yuh laughs, "You know he doesn't. That's just like Umi, you know. He doesn't and won't ever admit it but he likes what you do. You entertain him."
Tohya sighs, "He's got Rui now. For a year already."
"Oh. Right." Yuh stops the conversation for a moment and takes out his guitar, "Would it hurt for you to just let go and move on?"
Tohya smiles bitterly, "First, I am not holding onto anything so there's nothing to let go of... But I can't move on yet," the drummer sighs. "I have no destination to look forward to."
The door slams open, "Am I late?" Tomo asks, looking around inside the room, "Ah, Rui's not here yet! That's awesome."
"The couple just went out for breakfast." Tohya tells the vocalist.
"Ah... So they're already together huh?" Tomo's face turns dark, Yuh scoffs.
"They've been together a year already." The lead guitarist tells the younger, Tomo just throws him a knowing look.
"Why can't you and Tohya just stop it? They're happy, okay?"
"I'm just all for fanservice and stuff for Rui. What are you implying, Yuh?" The vocalist defends himself, the older just laughs, "Who are you kidding, Tomo?"
"I'm telling the truth!"
"Keep telling yourself that." Tohya tells the vocalist before finally starting to tune his drumset.
-----
Umi plays it cool whenever Tomo takes pictures of his boyfriend whenever the vocalist can. He plays it cooler when the two takes pictures together in a not-so-friendly way. He plays it the coolest when they kiss for the fans. At least until he and Rui gets home.
"Brush your teeth and wash your mouth." Umi tells Rui the moment they arrive in his apartment, where the bassist is almost a permanent resident, it's only a matter of time before he moves in (he's only waiting for Umi's invitation).
"What now?" Rui asks, a bit irritated that as if his boyfriend is implying he has some hygiene problems.
"I will not kiss someone who tastes like Tomo."
"Babe... You're jealous?" The younger asks with a smirk.
"Rui. As far as I can see, I have more reasons to be the jealous person in this relationship." Umi tells the bassist with his hands akimbo.
Rui's nose curls, he hates it when Umi brings up jealousy issues because really, the bassist is not one to hide it any longer. The younger shoves Umi aside as he marches to the bathroom, "We do fanservice! You and Tohya are doing something behind my back!" He yells before slamming the door shut.
"You're fucking unbelievable!" The leader screams then plops himself on his bed. He hates it that their relationship is taking a toll on them just because of jealousy issues. They had just come back from a hiatus and they're busy as ever, his and Rui's personal and emotional problems with the other members should never blow out of proportion and Umi believes it's his duty to fix everything.
But how can he? He can't even fix the bubbling problem between him and his boyfriend.
Rui screams the moment he steps out of the bathroom, "Are you going to defend him again?! That you're just buddies and incidentally when you hang out you end up having dinner together that you actually forget we're supposed to go out to eat too!? That's a fucking date to me!"
Umi removes his glasses in frustration, "Just go to sleep, Rui. I'm tired."
"So you'll sleep it off!? You asshole. Say something!"
"Damn it, Rui! Shut it! Me and Tohya have been friends for a long time. If I wanted to date him, you won't be here with me right now!"
Rui scoffs, "You talk as if you never thought of cheating on me!"
"Where the actual fuck is this coming from!?" Umi sits up in anger, "I've been nothing but loyal to you! Are you taking this from your own experiences!?"
Rui doesn't say anything but the sound of a hand slapping Umi's cheek hard echoes inside the apartment.
Umi clenches his jaw, he doesn't say anything, doesn't do anything. It's not in his nature to hit a lover, not someone as lovely as his current boyfriend. He just touches his cheek and he feels something thick gushing out of it.
He's bleeding.
Rui's long nails probably scratched his cheek. Before Umi can say anything, he hears his boyfriend cry on the edge of the bed and the older hates it when the bassist starts crying during or after an argument.
"I... I'm sorry, Rui. I was out of line." Umi whispers as he tries to reach out to Rui, the bassist's voice shakes as he responds, "You know I'm no longer that kind of person. I told you all of what I did back in high school and college because I love you and I trust you, not so you can throw it back on my face when we're fighting..."
Umi sighs, "I know... I know... I'm so sorry."
"I don't want you to become my karma, Umi..." Rui finally looks up to his boyfriend then gasps, "Oh, shit." The bassist frantically takes out his hanky and wipes the blood off Umi's cheek, "I wounded you again..."
"Make up can cover it. Don't worry." Umi hugs Rui, "Let's work this out, please?"
"Yes... We will."
It's a cycle for them. Umi knows that yes, in two or three days the 'working out' of their relationship will suffice but if it exceeds more than that, they'll have this argument again. A few more bruises and wounds both verbally and physically but they will still end up just like this - they fall asleep eventually, telling themselves that wounds heal and scars fade in time.
-----
Rui is reading the morning paper when Tohya walks in, a week after the argument (Thank goodness for weekends off rehearsals). Umi has stepped out to get breakfast and the drummer usually comes in second, but not this time.
"Good morning, Rui-kun." Tohya greets him genuinely, Rui just nods at his direction.
"Not in a good mood, are you?" The drummer asks, the blond just mutters a convincing 'uh-huh.'
"Okaaay." The youngest scratches the back of his head, "Now this is way awkward..." He mutters. Tohya feels a little sad about their current situation. How can the latter part of Umi and Rui's relationship ended up with him and the bassist's own friendship to fall apart? Fine, he's aware Rui's jealous (the bassist made sure he is) about his friendship with their leader but he himself doesn't really see something wrong with that, especially since he's hoping Umi doesn't find out the partly-hidden, unrequited love he has for Mr. Four Eyes.
"... Tohya?" Rui calls out, the drummer reluctantly looks at the bassist.
"Yeah?"
The bassist closes the newspaper, "You do like my boyfriend, right?"
Tohya hates the tone of Rui's voice. It's demanding and threatening - the kind where you can't talk yourself out of. The drummer just shrugs his shoulders, it's also the kind of conversation they have had a thousand times.
"Are we still on this, Rui-kun?" Tohya sighs then turns his back on Rui to setup his drumset, "I'm getting stressed with the issue."
The bassist tsks loudly, "You're not the only one, okay?!"
Tohya calmly looks at Rui, hoping that his pokerface works on the blond, "Where did our sweet Rui-kun go? The Rui here now is harsh and selfish. The Rui I knew would not do this kind of stuff to his friends..."
Before Rui could answer, the door opens and Umi knows that tension is brewing between the two already. "Rui..." He calls out, his voice tired. He knows that his boyfriend started an argument again.
The bassist walks up to Umi, taking his boyfriend's hand, the leader looks at Tohya, "Can you give us a minute?" The drummer nods and leaves the room.
"Rui, this is getting a little out of hand. Stop it."
"What if I don't want to stop!?" Rui pulls his hand away angrily, hissing at Umi.
"You are putting our relationship and the band in jeopardy already!" Umi tries not to raise his voice but he's definitely enraged.
-----
"Oh, why aren't you getting inside?" Yuh asks when he arrives with Tomo. Tohya just sighs, "The couple's fighting again."
Tomo takes a sip of his coffee, "Ain't it too early for one? What happened?"
Tohya scratches his head, "Me and Rui in one room, you know the drill."
Yuh laughs bitterly, "This isn't funny anymore. I can't do this."
"Yuh! Don't give up on vistlip!" Tomo tells the guitarist. "Are you crazy? I'm not giving up this band. I just want a peaceful working relationship among friends again..." Yuh explains, the vocalist sighs in relief.
The door bursts open with an angry bassist, still shouting and looking behind to Umi, "I hate you! I hate you!!!! I fucking hate you!!!" And he walks off, ignoring his other friends who are in shock. Umi soon comes running out, "Be back in an hour. I'm sorry." He tells no one in particular, as he's just focused on catching up to Rui.
The three sighs and walks inside the studio, their feet taking heavy footsteps as they do.
"Maybe I should just leave the band."

Author's Notes: No idea how i'm going with the story, or if this will even have any plot at all. My sister was very delusional when she was asking me to plot this story for her. T^T
