Summary: Days after picking around the Midgar ruins since his escape. Sephiroth has been sheltering in mostly collapsed or dangerously-close-to-collapse old abandoned houses, sometimes with Jenova, unless she is pre-disposed. Sephiroth's very human need for sustenance has become more than an annoyance. Old ruins not being very good at salvaging any type of food, Sephiroth decides that tonight he will venture into the streets of the redeveloped area "Edge".

Crunch, groan. These feelings around Sephiroth's midsection have been distracting to say the least for the last couple of nights, It made sleep harder, this hunger. Now the days seemed to be passing harder too. He wondered how long his Jenova cells would be able to keep him going without the human need for food and he thought now that this might indeed be the limit. Sure his cells might stop him keeling over from malnutrition but there were other reasons that humans required sustenance. Energy levels for a start, concentration also would be effected by troubled nights. These were highly valued attributes and Sephiroth knew that he might be required to call on them suddenly, without much warning. This was too much of a liability and besides the hunger had now gotten beyond annoying, past the thresold of which it could have been ignored.

Alright, He thought at his rebelling stomach I'm going to find something now... as if thinking at it would at least sedate the noises and discomfort long enough for him to find some sort of food. Not likely. The ruins of Midgar was full of small niches in half-collapsed or near-collapsed buildings but hardly any of them had anything that was still good to eat inside them. He was lucky to find an intact mattress he could use to get a couple of hours sleep most nights so far. He'd even managed to find a worn poncho to slip over his shoulders on a particularly colder night by raiding some dead families closet. He needed to ask Mother to return to him his leather trench and armor somehow from the Lifestream as the poncho look really didn't suit.

Once outside of his shelter for the night, Sephiroth recalled the direction of the redeveloped area and although stealing was not in his nature this situation was getting desparate. Besides, people do not let their Gods go hungry so there would be no problem according to his logic to take from those who have more than they need. Thankfully the weather was calm tonight and so Sephiroth headed towards the built-up area on foot and was surprised at how far Edge wasn't from where he had been settling down that night. Handy right now, but could be dangerous should anyone in the World put together the occurance at the Northern Caverns and the Earthquake ...This possible risk was noted mentally but almost as if on cue Sephiroth's gut rumbled again just as he entered the city. One thing at a time...

After an agonisingly long half an hour dodging in and out of alleyways now and then to avoid night-time activity, Sephiroth came across somewhere that he thought might suit this need. Pausing outside the facade of the Seventh Heaven he looked over it from the outside. Something tugged at a memory that wasn't his own, tucked at the back of his own mind. It sounded familiar but he couldn't at this moment place where from. Right now his mind was firmly on the fact that this was a public house and judging from the board to the side of the closed front door they served food to people, therefore it would have a surplus of foodstuffs. Simple logic really.

Sephiroth nipped down the side of the alleyway next to the building and soon found first the rubbish dumpsters and then the back door. He could have ferretted around in a dumpster to find excess food but he was much to proud for that. He wasn't some common hobo, he was Sephiroth. Approaching the back door it was a simple task to focus a small amount of telekinetic energy into shifting the bolt lock back and therefore unlocking the door. Crunch, groan sounded louder to him now than it surely was and he curses softly to himself about the involuntary noise as if it would give him away. He entered the Seventh Heaven via the back door, silent in step and slowly in case of the door creaking. The door led straight into the kitchen, how convenient.

Within a few minutes Sephiroth had found a handy black trash bag to put things in and was quick to go through cupboards and pick out the foodstuffs that would last the longest or be of the most simple-ready-to-eat variety. It's a slow process though, moving cans and opening doors without a sound. Occasionally the crunch in his stomach seemed to be intensified at the anticipation of food. Well this is a boundary that wasn't worth testing again if it was this much hassle, this hunger.

A problem occurred however, upon opening the last cupboard softly a misplaced cookie jar on the first shelf tumbled out of the cupboard. Since Sephiroth had one hand on the trash bag and the other on the handle of the cupboard he had to quickly let go of both and attempt to catch the jar. The jar was caught mid-way in it's tumble but then the cupboard door smacked loudly back into place which startled him and the jar slipped out of his grip. Smashing on the floor. Shi- Sephiroth cursed in reaction but the full obscenity was caught as he moved quickly to the wall adjacent to the door so that whomever might come and see if anyone was in there wouldn't see. He even managed to grab the bag with the food in it also.

Now he had to wait and listen, heightened senses automatically triggered by the adrenaline rush.
