Summary: At Reeve's request, Kira goes around to the orphanage where Seph is searching for clues concerning Jenova's disappearance.
Kira approached the empty orphanage carefully. She had already read up on the attack (wondering how she hadn't heard about it in the first place...the times she had met with Reeve around that time and his behavior then made a lot more sense) and was prepared mentally. There were no thoughts of the children that had died, only the usual determination to get the job done. It's the only way to do a decent job, after all...
She adjusted the weapons across her back. Shani was there, as always, ready to be drawn in an instant. Today, she'd have a bit of trouble doing that with the weapon in one piece; the RPG strapped across her back saw to that. The weapon's blades were separated, ready on either side of the rocket launcher. Three materia occupied the slots of the bracer on her wrist - Fire, Cure, and her Ifrit summon materia - she had nearly forgotten the Cure until San slipped it into the slot, as usual. And you laughed and asked him how you had ever survived without him, then kissed him and sent him off to HQ before you. After all, no time like the present...
Distracted again.
Moving slowly, eye already scanning the area though there was no sign of life around the building, Kira moved closer. If her days in SOLDIER and the time when Sephiroth had nearly destroyed the world was any indication, there would be no surprising him.
And this was where...
She kept moving as she entered the building, the images from the report running briefly through her mind before she forced them away and kept moving. Every sense was on high alert; she swore she could still smell the blood that had been cleaned up, but of course, that was nonsense. Her hand itched to reach back and draw a weapon, even for what was supposed to only be a simple recon mission...dealing with Sephiroth...
Shani was in her hand moments later as her eyes illuminated the darkness.
