I would. [ But he doesn't want you going outside that wall and into the radiation. ]

Jason, Justin, and I are going to search outside the city for Aerith. Deb, Ratchet, is going to stay to look for the little girl. She's already started I think and I'm sure she could use some help.

[ That's the only way he's going to insinuate he wants you to stay in here without bossing you around. ]

[ There's a gasp that comes from her when he mentions that he's going to be outside the city. Tears are already starting to prickle at her eyes, but she's holding it all back. ]

I -- I do not mind helping her out. When are the three of you leaving?

[ Oh but he heard that. ] It'll be alright Lauren, don't worry.

I'm going to meet them at the gate in an hour.

...You are asking me to do this impossible when you request that. I hope you know.

Could I see you before you leave? That is, if you don't mind.

Yes, I do, and I understand. But that doesn't mean I don't want you to worry.

[ She's going to save what she has to say until he's there in person. ]

[ It only took a couple of minutes or so because he made sure to hurry. Grant wanted to meet the team on time at the gate, but give Lauren as much time as possible. Because he knew she was at work he waited for her patiently outside the building. ]

[ She excused herself for a moment and headed outside. Lauren gave him a quick glance before looking up at the sky to watch the flowers fall. ]

Of course. [ He frowned at how formal she was being, and it worried him. He moved to take a step closer to her but nothing more. His eyes followed her glance up to the falling flowers. ]

[ It was hard for Lauren to be formal while around him, but it was the only way she knew she could keep a hold of her emotions. When he stepped towards her, Lauren closed the distance and leaned into him. ]

[ Grant looked down at her when she leaned into him, and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, resting his head against hers only slightly. ]

I swear to whatever god or gods that are here, I will kick someones ass is anything happens to you, Grant.

[ He was expecting her to say something similar, maybe have him promise to come back. But not that. Blinking, he stared down at her before giving her side a small squeeze. ]

Jason and Justin are coming with me, I trust them [ Well, maybe just Jason. ] with my life, as I'm sure they trust me with theirs. We'll make it back.

I'm going to hold you to that, but I was talking about the radiation and whatever else is out there... I know that's why you don't want me going with you.

[ He sighed and nodded slowly, looking down at the ground. ] And I'm thankful that you aren't. But I promise to be careful about the radiation, and Jason has been here long enough to be familiar with those creatures. [ He hoped. ]

We'll be well armed and on full alert.
